Marvel Advent Calendar - Day 19

Posted by ,

After the unpleasantness of the last two days in 76267 Avengers Advent Calendar, perhaps we will see a change for the better during the six remaining days.

Let's find out whether that starts today...

This little table is definitely an improvement, although it still seems rather underwhelming. Even so, the apple is included in reference to Doctor Strange's use of an apple when experimenting with the Eye of Agamotto and the lamp originates from that same sequence, which are clever details following his arrival yesterday.

The table itself could have adhered more closely to those found in Kamar-Taj, but the grey and dark tan colours match the wrapping station from day six. Both tables include clips on the sides and can be attached to the fireplace, as shown below. This was hardly necessary, but the option is welcome.

Overall - Though I enjoy the reference to an important moment in Doctor Strange's development, this table is otherwise rather dull.

It looks better connected to the other builds

I'm amazed we didn't get the apple just by itself.

But I mean, still, it's an apple and a lamp on a small table. Does any part of this scream "The Avengers" to anyone?

Reminder that if you want these to be compatible with the builds in 2021 Advent Calendar 76196 and 76125, bring the clips forward one stud on the 4x4 plate. (The entire fireplace needs to be moved up one stud as well.)

This will make the desk look...less like a desk. Oh well.

By in Netherlands,

Batman's arts and crafts section of the Batcave continues to be expanded and now we have a table to be painted as a still-life. Sure, it won't be the most colorful table and we don't have painting supplies, but I'm sure it's nice for Batman to blow off some steam with artistic expression. Even though it's mostly with blacks and very very dark grays....

Idk why but I might like these sections the most out of the stuff from this calender. I'm a sucker for utility builds I suppose.

I don’t remember the apple scene mentioned, but I haven’t seen either Doc Strange film in some time.

Build seems fine but this feels like a weird inclusion nonetheless.

There's a scene in Kamar-Taj where Strange sneaks out late night to study, finds the Eye of Agamotto, and experiments with time dilation by moving an apple forward and backward in time (from eaten to not eaten and back). Then Wong yells at him for messing with time, which he points out is super dangerous. I guess you could kind of recreate that scene here, although Strange wasn't wearing the cape in the scene (which is probably why it was in a separate day, much to everyone's chagrin.

Just seen someone place the standalone cape on the trans-blue accessory stand, using it as a cape stand. And makes a lot more sense if that's what it's meant to be, but obviously Lego's photographer didn't get that memo as none of the offcial photos show it in that capacity.

I think super heroes in general lack the kind of accessories/items and iconography that lends themselves to Lego and these advent calendars in particular. Super heroes generally don't need a lot of extra stuff since they have powers. Star Wars has a much easier time.

I think the Fantastic Four would make a good advent calendar, with devices for Mr. Fantastic and Doctor Doom; maybe four small Fantasticar builds that could join together. To bad the calendars are movie and show based and not just comic books.
Batman would make a advent calendar, plenty of Batcave trophies to be made plus gadgets (Whirly-bats!)
X-Men could bee a good one too, as mentioned in the discussion a few days ago, if it included lots of Danger Room items.

By in Sweden,

On its own it's quite lackluster but I agree that it doesn't look half bad connected to the other similar builds.

Relying on deep fan cuts to make up for lackluster design is poor pandering.

Quick Marvel remove any reference to Kang in the upcoming days - recall the product lol

I’m pretty sure this is the apple from Snow White, having just been covered in red wrapping paper.

The hockey stick and Doctor strange’s cape have been outdone by a fourth table. This has been the worst advent calendar in years.

Unless you really like tables, then it's two thumbs up!
