Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 14

Posted by ,

This year's LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar at last shifted its attention to the Original Trilogy yesterday, beginning with the classic Lambda-class Shuttle, which was superb.

Hopefully day fourteen proves as enjoyable...

Princess Leia is an ideal companion for the Imperial Shuttle, which presumably represents the Tydirium. This minifigure has appeared once before, in 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama, so I am pleased to see it again, particularly given the impressive standard of detail across the torso and legs.

The combination of olive green, sand green and dark tan creates effective camouflage and is accurate to the movie, secured with a belt around Leia's waist. Sadly, this minifigure lacks the helmet available in 75353 Endor Speeder Chase Diorama and dual-moulded legs representing long boots would have been perfect here, although that omission is attributable to the figure's initial appearance with the diorama.

Leia's standard double-sided head is included and looks good, while the dark brown hair piece matches her onscreen hairstyle perfectly. A blaster pistol and a printed cookie to pacify a jittery Ewok are also provided and spares of both accessories are included, which is always useful.

Overall - I like this Princess Leia minifigure and its availability in only one other set will make it new to many, which is great.

Including Leia from 75353 is the best Endor-related treat since they included a Scout Trooper in 75023 . That was a great calendar since the Scout Trooper was only available in the D2C Endor Village at the time. (It also included a calendar-exclusive young Boba Fett.)

Of course, now it's super killing me that I have Leia but not the Luke from 75353 . Which means I'll have to go buy it at some point.

Dual moulded sand blue legs with black boots and a green print at the top would have looked good here

By in Germany,

I already have a pretty good Endor Leia from 75049, but I appreciate getting this one nonetheless. The extra pistol is also neat.

@ResIpsaLoquitur: Honourable mention to 75307 (2021 advent calendar) for having the updated Scout Trooper that had only been in two sets before then, plus a Stormtrooper.

Ah, looks like he comes with one of those Annuals which for some reason are only sold in the UK. I'd have to order one on eBay.

Technically was probably intended to be the Scout Trooper from the Mandalorian who bopped Grogu on the head!

By in Ireland,

A splendid minifigure and one I did not have previously.

No doubt those detestable "jittery little things" will follow in the coming days but more about them anon!!

They are sold in Poland and Netherlands too.

By in Canada,

I don't think dual molding is really necessary, but the green boots really don't look right. Why not just print the bottom of the poncho on blue legs?

“Sit down and eat this cookie or I’ll shoot you!”

Anyways, having read up on MARPAT recently, I’d think this camo pattern, while definitely screen-accurate, would make you stand out more than wearing unpatterned olive drabs. It’s weird to find out that some camo patterns make you even more obvious than no camo pattern, but once you see it in effect, it’s hard to deny.

I've been enjoying coming to the comments and reading what your ranking is, but please bring back the silly little notes next to them! They're so fun!

Both accessories have extras? That means you can dual pack or dual snack!

Hey, I have an Endor Leia now! I had a Hoth Leia, a Slave Leia, and three Celebration Leias, but no Hoth Leias before this morning. Well, technically, I had one as soon as I bought the calendar, but she was still in the box before this morning. And one of those Celebration Leias is also still in her box, as I'm waiting until my two Advent Calendars are off my Lego table before I build 75301.

@Rob42: 75049 doesn't have a Leia of any description. Did you link to the wrong set?

That was what I was thinking, too. Of course, there's also @DoonsterBuildsLego's interpretation.

@TheOtherMike: Yup, flipped the digits. 75094, with the fabric cape (that I'm always worried about tearing, cause the shoulders are damn narrow).

@Rob42: After linking to the wrong set (or no set at all) one too many times, I just started pulling up the set's database entry and then copy-pasting from there, unless it's a set whose number I know well, such as 10497. It is pretty cool, in a weird way, that you still managed to link to a set of a white Star Wars vehicle.

Nice figure. Yet, it's lame that Lego skimps on dual-molded legs for SW figures, but features them prominently in other themes.
