City Advent Calendar - Day 13
Posted by MeganL,
Almost half the doors so far in the calendar have featured minifigures or pets, which is very nice for populating the scene. The only downside is that as a result, we haven't had much of a scene to build so far. As we move into the second half of the calendar, perhaps we will see more builds.
We have another very stylish minifig today, in another festive sweater. She's dressed for the cold with a nice warm scarf around her throat, and comes prepared with a sugar cookie.
Here's the minifig without the distracting scarf, and I like how her sweater has a helicopter design. She comes on skates, so she'll join the snowboarding kid, the skier, and the snowshoer for outdoor traveling.
The back of her sweater is like the others, with a Christmas tree on the back.

The Dad’s sweater is firefighter-themed and this one is police!
Looking at the family now I wish the girl had a space sweater. I feel like that’s the 4th evergreen City subtheme. But we’re really happy with the setup so far as an intro to Lego City and getting lots of play out of it.
Can't make a city calender without firefighters and police. I guys these are a classy way to include those concepts. The minifig is just a normal citizen, which is nice.
@MeganL How much were you hoping those really were helicopters and not something else?
I thought it was a festively plump person with two turkey legs

What else would they be?
She could be a cop, as you can tell with the star in the middle.

My Roflcopter go swoosh swoosh
The City calendar definitely looks the most impressive minifig-wise, but I do agree that it could use some more minibuilds....
Yes, I like the fact that the calendar is sticking with the theme of the Family With Ugly Christmas Sweaters, but there seems to be a dire shortage of things to actually build.
And the City calendar is usually much better with this.

As someone who stripped the minifigs from two calendars and tossed the boxes in a corner, I’m having a hard time agreeing on that one. Also, there was that one flaming garbage year recently.
