City Advent Calendar - Day 15
Posted by MeganL,
We're back in the building business with yesterday's model helicopter, but we've yet to see something especially festive in the calendar, with the exception of the sweaters modelled by the minifigs this year. Maybe the festivities start today?
Hmmm. Well, I think this bunny is intended for the baby, and is likely taller! However, I'm a little disappointed with this solitary bunny. In the Friends calendar, the bunny accompanied one of the microdolls, so it would have been nice for City to follow suit.
While undoubtedly cute, I expect a bit more behind a door. This City calendar is starting to feel like the minimalist Friends advent calendars of years past - I remember one year when there was just a purse or an accessory pack behind one of the doors. I guess the bunny is the City equivalent?

I won’t be buying the City advent next year if the piece count is as poor as this one
i have to admit, i was shocked this morning when i opened door 15. i thought; that cant be right.. only one single accessory!? i almost feel bad for the plasitc bag which held it.. beside the nice minifigs, this calendar has to be one of the worst of all time..
This years City advent calendar is the 20th edition released and unsurprisingly, based on todays reveal, has the lowest piece count. I principally bought this years edition for the festive jumpers which I'm happy with, but they could have for example paired the bunny with some brick built presents.

Deeply underwhelming.
I've been buying the City advent calendar for a few years now and this is the worst, by far. I won't be buying next years if it has as low of a piece count as this year, that's for sure.
A single piece that's intended as an accessory to another day's entry... I'm having flashbacks to last year's Marvel calendar. I think everybody knows the day I mean.
Poor
I was going to joke on the Friends calender that we could expect something with 'like three pieces' from City in comparison.
We get one. One piece
(Insert One Piece anime opening)
But seriously. Imean, it's not a bad piece. It's printed, it's relatively complex. But it's not exactly the greatest, most complex piece either. If this was a one-off, sure. But at this point we're on day 15 and except for the minifigs the other builds have been rather meager. They might have been able to add it to the baby. Or to the baby carriage. Those three days makes for 8 pieces between them! 4 of those (the baby head, body and carriage chassis and generously this bunny) I would consider anywhere remotely more complex than regular parts.
So far, the bright spot has been those unique holiday sweaters for the minifigs. I don't think today as quite as bad as the Dr. Strange incident last year in Marvel, but this is a stinker.
Yawn.
Well that’s certainly disappointing. Feel like this could easily have been included with some of the other baby-related stuff we had in the earlier doors
I kinda think this could have come with a figure in another day, or even do throw in a mini build of a wrapping paper station to imply it was to be wrapped up.
Heck, do a Dreamzzz crossover and have it be Bunchu with a little Z-Blob toy
71030-7.
I had never seen this thing before. Didn't know they made them like this. I was not expecting to be surprised! So far I think that the rc helicopter and fire truck should've been something seasonal. Let's hope it picks up the pace the next 9 days. The minifig family is rather nice so they deserve something extra.
Dreamzzz
Not impressed by this one. A single piece is bad by even the worst advent calendar standards.
I didn't buy the Friends calendar because it's always a disappointment. This is worse.
That's it?!
This has to be the most disappointing Lego Advent Calendar 'build' ever?
I was honestly shocked that this was it for today.

Hey, at least a stuffed bunny is more playable by itself than a cape.

If it hadn't been that specific cape, which has been shown to be almost a character in its own right, I'm sure Billund would have spontaneously combusted with all the combined hatred generated by Marvel fans. But let's also not forget that it took Rocket four days to cook a turkey.
I definitely feel like this year's City calendar has been the victim of shrink-flation.
Everything just seems ... smaller. The builds are smaller, there's less of them, and everything just seems less.
And it's a shame. Because, from what I recall, the City calendars are *usually* pretty good. I had last year's City calendar, and I really enjoyed it. Yes, there were pets and minifigs, but the builds were varied and interesting, and it still felt like there were things to do.
I bought the Disney calendar, this year, and yes, the micro-dolls are a little disappointing, and there's been a couple of pets, but there's still been something to *do*, most days.
GREED!
Shame on you, Lego. Naked greed at Christmas. Isn't it bad enough what you do all year.
Couldn't give up a little Ferrari/dressage pony money to make a kid's advent calendar a bit better??!!
Tasteless and classless.
Don't know that I'll be buying City ACs any more.
Words cannot express my disappointment in this year's calendar. The taste has soured to the point where I'm not even sure I'll buy next year's calendar.
Like, there's hardly been anything to actually build. Some minifigs (which hardly count) and some really tiny micro builds. The rest are pets and snapping wheels onto things. And then there's this, which really takes the cake. A single piece.
I cannot imagine how this got the ok. Really a shameful presentation by Lego.
Well, I chased down a copy right as they were selling out, and picked up a second that I randomly stumbled across, specifically for the minifigs. I’ve got one set of the family (excluding the cat, because cats hate getting dragged along on family outings) doing Kevin’s aftershave pose in front of the Home Alone house right now at Detroit Symphony Orchestra. I’ve got a second set for use at other shows. And I just added the stuffed bunny to Santa’s trailer full of toys (as Brian Setzer said, Santa drives a hot rod, this one a droptail with matching trailer). But the main reason I bought the first calendar is a minifig we haven’t seen yet, which is rarely produced, and is by far the best example of the four different versions they’ve released. So better things are coming.
