City Advent Calendar - Day 17

Posted by ,

Yesterday we had a build! The minifigs now have a new means to get around in the snow thanks to the snowmobile. Hopefully that means that we'll be getting more builds to finish off the last third of the calendar.

It's not a build, but it is Mrs. Claus! This is quite a good minifig, and I particular like the skirt piece. The printing has some excellent detail.

Mrs. Claus is carrying a checklist, so undoubtedly she's helping Santa with figuring out who's been naughty and who's been nice.

The back printing is similarly good on this piece. The minifigs in this calendar have not disappointed, even though some of the other entries have.

Definitely feels like the majority of the budget's gone towards the really rather great minifigs this year, yup - great from a "filling out a city with more winter-y figs for the season" perspective, but it *does* mean there's been a tradeoff with being a fun calendar to go through day-by-day and I do wonder whether that was the right call in all honesty.

Another great minifig.
Just ehm... not sure if it would be worth going through the builds for it as an actual AC.

Hey, the book counts as a build! Seriously though, I like the use of the list tile ion that book. That's a preety neat way to use that tile. Also, the reflection of the fur trim of Mrs. Claus' outfit on the book cover in that first photo lined up nicely.

And this is exactly why I picked up this calendar. I realized they’ve now done four Mrs. Claus minifigs, between Winter Village, BAM, and the 2023/2024 City Advent Calendars, and this is hands down the best of the bunch.

Just for info: I wrote a complaint regarding this year City Calendar and I got an apology response made with AI (it was a bit obvious but I parsed it anyway through three distinct AI detectos, all of them confirming it). LEGO doesn't even care.

The figure of all time.

I bought the calendar for all of the great minifigs to add to my Winter Village so I am not disappointed.

I chose the City one based on its contents. I’m sorry for anyone who’s been disappointed, but these days I check roughly what’s in them first before I pick, and the family group in their jumpers sold this one for me, they’re awesome.

Mrs Santa is nice enough, but I really can’t stand her up no matter what I do!

Let's face it, it's mostly the (exclusive) minifigs what makes these advent calendars worth picking up. Most of the builds are filler material, IMHO. Some are good, sure, but not a lot of them are useful otherwise.
