Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 21

Posted by ,

The new Hogwarts Castle system is designed for smaller sets to fit inside larger ones and models from this Advent Calendar work beautifully with 76435 Hogwarts Castle: The Great Hall.

The fireplace on day twenty was a fine example and I wonder what today will bring...

I mentioned the lack of Christmas decorations around the fireplace in yesterday's article and that is rectified today! This garland is attractively adorned with red 1x1 round plates and gold stars and I love the use of 3x3 curved corner plates to create its shape. Even the supports on either side look rather nice, topped with flames. The whole assembly is very fragile though.

Fortunately, it becomes a little sturdier once attached to the fireplace, as suggested on the box. The dark bluish grey 1x2 rounded plate linking the two halves is removed and you can connect them to the available studs on the fireplace instead. I find the whole display quite appealing and this makes a nice change from a simple wreath, for instance.

Overall - I think this garland looks splendid with yesterday's fireplace, although it is fragile.

I take back what I said about the wreath on City. This is even cooler

Very fun and creative garland build. Pairing it with the fireplace makes it look very special indeed.

I do quite like that functions as its own build aside from being attached to a previous one. Beats some of the other offerings of past and present that only work when you attach them to another day

It’s weird, though, because I don’t recall ever getting a previous AC build that gets built one way when displayed by itself, and reconfigured to be displayed as part of a two-day model.

Looks like tiki torches, not exactly the kind of torches you'd expect to find inside an old castle.
