Star Wars Advent Calendar Review: Day 4

Star Wars Advent Calendars often focus on a single planet or subject matter for several days at a time but this year has already left Cloud City for the Imperial shipyards and that continues today with the arrival of our second minifigure.

Imperial Navy Troopers maintain the Empire's vast fleet of Star Destroyers, light cruisers and starfighters so this figure fits very nicely beside yesterday's TIE Interceptor. I love the detailed helmet sculpt and the printing on the torso and legs is also quite impressive. This design has only previously appeared in 75055 Imperial Star Destroyer so is a rare minifigure much like the Bespin Wing Guard from day two. Furthermore, like the Wing Guard, the Navy Trooper is equipped with a blaster pistol.

This is a great gift but I think a slightly different design to match the troopers found in 75159 Death Star would have been even better. Lots of people will be hoping to receive the new Death Star this Christmas so a figure which could slot comfortably into that set would have been a little more appropriate than this one in my opinion. Nevertheless, I am glad to see another generic soldier included in the calendar.

Overall - 4.5 - This Imperial Navy Trooper makes a welcome addition to the forces of the Empire and has only appeared once before so is fairly rare.

By in United States,

What a great calendar so far. It would have been a really nice treat if this were the Death Star Trooper. However, to get this minifigure it is wonderful--since it is a rare figure. Sure wish it had an extra blaster pistol though.

What's the trans red 1x1 tile for?

Another great minifigure. Another 5 out of 5. Upon clicking on the link to the death star above, I was surprised to see that these guys in that set don't have leg printing. I'm sure Lego could have stretched to leg printing given the extra 150 quid they had to play with for the re-release.

I also have a confession. This evening I bust out the guy from window 24 to stick in a snowglobe to go alongside santa's snowglobe. My wife is now VERY happy to have two lego snowglobes bookending the mantlepiece. /s

By in United Kingdom,

I love today's mini figure and so far this year's calendar is looking like the best yet. However, I really wish they'd use the head with the chin strap for these naval troopers - they don't like right to me without it and I haven't got enough spares to keep swapping them.

It's a shame the minifigure doesn't have a chinstrap print, but otherwise it's a great inclusion for the calendar!

Nice fig but the helmet is such a loose fit I suspect I'll be hunting about under the sofa for it before too long.

I like all the OT stuff but I'm hoping we'll get some New trilogy or R1 builds next year

It's a good addition to my collection.

@joemmo: it's funny you say that, because having experience with the loose fit of these helmets in the past, I was pleasantly surprised by the rather tight fit of this advent calendar trooper's helmet.

Dang! Mine had a Luke in black suit instead of the trooper... I wish I knew about it before open it, i guess those packaging errors are pretty rare. Yes, i opened the right day, in fact, after opening the box and seeing all the bags I can tell you there were two Lukes in my calendar.

I love this figure but the one from 9492 was superior. The chin strap was way more accurate than old man face wrinkles.
