Star Wars Advent Calendar Review: Day 22

With just three doors left to be opened in the 2016 Star Wars Advent Calendar I am hoping that the best it has to offer has been saved for last. Yesterday saw the arrival of a Stormtrooper so one would hope that he will be joined by an appropriately Imperial gift today.

The Sentinel-class Landing Craft makes a brief appearance in Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope but is more prevalent in Star Wars Rebels where it is the vehicle of choice for many Imperial officers and landing parties. This model is undoubtedly recognisable as being distinct from the more prominent Lambda-class Shuttle but its proportions are rather inaccurate as the fuselage should be much wider in front of the rear wings. I think a 3x3 plate should have been used at the core of the model as that would have provided a more authentic hull shape.

It therefore looks somewhat awkward to me but offers great play value as the wings can be folded for landing or flight and the cockpit module is similarly articulated. I also like the blue glow of the engines which is represent by a trans-light blue tile at the rear of the vessel and you can easily remove a few pieces to shorten the hull and create a Lambda-class Shuttle if you wish.

Overall - 3.5 - This is a valiant effort and I think it is recognisable but the strange proportions are bothersome.

Another way to make it wider at the front would be 2x 4632566 1x1 plate with lamp holder, with 1x1 round plates/tiles, replacing the tan 1x2 plate.

The neck looks awful.

I couldn't decide whether it was a sentinel or lambda. Plumped for sentinel in the end as a previous calendar offering of a lambda class shuttle had better proportions (if not small)

This is my first Imperial Landing Craft in Lego form. I hope they make a minifig scale version again soon!

I agree, a minifigure scale version, possibly costing about £50, could sell quite well

By in Norway,

First i thought it was the lambda shuttle. But when i built it i was thinking about it from Rebels Cartoon.

Although I recognized the ship immediately when building it, I do think the shape is a little odd.

It looks really awkward.

I always loved this ship during that one mission in Rogue Squadron. Neat little mini!

I guess it looks like the landing craft from Rebels, but its sorta ugly regardless. I shortened the body and turned it into a Lambda class. Now I like it better. :)

I thought this was the worst of the whole calendar. But I can see the resemblance to the Sentinel-Class ship.

why could that tan 2x1 plate behind the fin not have been white? it looks so odd and out of place in a completely different colour

TitanArch, could you find a smaller picture, lol! I can barely see the shuttle. Certainly can't make out details. Thanks for trying though. An internet search brings up much better results.

Yes, Sentinel-class, but specifically the one from A New Hope Special Edition, which is thinner and wider than the Rebels version.
Also, LEGO did screw up on the instructions. The wings are supposed to be forward-swept.
