This year's SDCC exclusive set is...

Spider-Man and Venom BrickHeadz!

The set will be available only to a lucky few attendees of San Diego Comic Con, which is held on 20-22 July this year.

As usual you'll have to jump through hoops to get one: attendees must first visit the Pavilion Terrace to participate in a random drawing to qualify to buy beginning as early as 6 a.m.

The numbers 15 and 16 on the box suggest that another box of two (13 and 14) might also be available there, assuming the numbers follow on from the 12 widely released ones.

It contains 144 pieces and will be priced at $40.

Congratulations SoCal scalpers, it's payday!

By in United States,

This is a sad day. This set would make so much money if made a wide release. I mean, it's Spider-Man! It's Venom!
Every year the Con gets harder to put up with for those of us who cannot attend

Hopefully they would do a Spider-Man homecoming wide release brickheadz of Spider-Man and Vulture. Like how they redid Iron Man and Captian America.

Easiest way to get the prices down is if people stop paying the asking price on Ebay. If people don't agree to pay $200+ then the price will go down on the after market. We have the power not the scalpers. Just say no! :-)

No!!!!!!! Why? Oh well, guess I can't get those beautiful Brickheadz. Aw :(

By in Norway,

cool! too bad I will never get my hands on them.

By in United Kingdom,

Pretty cool, although I know I won't be getting it

I'm convinced that the 2x2 printed tile between Spider-Man's eyes is upside down!

By in United States,

I want it!

By in United States,

$40 is expensive.

This must be a real kick to the nuts for BrickHeadz collectors. I was starting to think Lego was getting it right with the Space Slug and Han & Luke Death Star Rescue sets: exclusive set/packaging, but no exclusive parts.

By in United Kingdom,

So cool I haven't got any brick heads yet but I, d love this one and captain America & black panther.

But as it's a sanDiego comic on exclusive I've got no chance,

Lego I really want to see reed Richards, Sue storm, Ben grim and Johnny storm in lego form next year.. And daredevil

It's about time..

By in United States,

This may be the First SDCC I'll get.. since they numbered them, I'll have to get 12, 13, 14, and 15 in order to complete the numbered series. There goes another $200.

Think I'm in a minority but Brickheads really don't interest me at all.
It's the exclusive figures which will show up soon which will stir my envy.

Noo! I was going to build venom for the competition.

By in United States,

Looks nice but I was an SDCC regular for 10 years. I always had a booth or an Artist Alley space so I'd get in early but you still had the long lines for exclusives like this.
It wasn't bad back in late 90's to early 2000's. The lines moved and you had a decent chance of getting the items like this (not lego back then but exclusive Batman figures, star wars stuff, etc). Even the Lego in NYCC wasn't too bad with lines but now...WTF...you gotta' get there by 6am??!! This is stupid (yes I know you can sell it for 200 plus dollars afterwards but it's a maybe to get one). So get up at 5am to stand online for 6am for a MAYBE chance of getting it.
Just have a show store, sell it there, first come first serve (NO exhibitor badges excepted, no early birds, only when show opens) and one per customer. If it sells out, it sells out. Jumping through the hoops is no fun. My advice, enjoy the show. There's lots to do and see. Don't waste time on a long line. You won't enjoy the show as much especially if you don't get one of these and you got up at 5am...lol.
Go to Artist Alley and get someone to do a cool lego style original art drawing. You'd have a unique one of a kind piece that no else has.

Kubros, er Brickheadz, Meh... So much meh.

By in United States,

Just like last year, I like the SDCC sets WAY more than any of the retail ones:/

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really want that

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's also possible the numbering continues last year's line of exclusives. Four 2-packs were 1-8, and four more would be 9-16.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Additionally the THR link shows the display plate has "SDCC 2017," so they're not part of Series 1. It would be an odd choice to include these SDCC exclusives in the official numbering while excluding last year's, though obviously LEGO could choose to do so.

Ties in well with the current competition!

Promoting toys as collectibles is certainly one way to invite unwanted plagiarism. (How much is a far-eastern Lester minifigure clone these days?) Stimulating the knock-off marketplace does serve - in the short term at least - to keep prices low for fans who once were loyal. Though when the vampire is at your door, it's usually not a good idea to invite him in for dinner...

By in United States,

Considering last year they had 4 sets of 2 (2 marvel, 2 DC). I wonder if they will do the same this year. Also, the set number has 3 more unknown sets prior to Spider/Venom set that line up with the SDCC from last year. That might indicate more than just another set of 2.

Gravatar
By in United States,

They need to make these for Star Wars.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Venom's mouth reminds me of Domo the Monster.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As others have said, the exclusive should have unique packaging but not parts.
I hope these two characters will eventually get their own regular retail release, Spider-man is so popular that anything else is unfair on anyone collecting brick-headz.
I understand the driving forces behind these exclusive sets but I think even store exclusivity is a bit unfair.

By in Poland,

Great! The only brickheadz I'd buy if I had an opportunity and they're SDCC exculsives. Not funny.

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

Am I the only one that thinks Spiderman's head print is honestly not nice at all? I guess this is where brickheadz faces challenge the most....

Gravatar
By in United States,

So cool! Too bad the set will end up selling for a very very high price.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Spidey's eyes need to be more angular though.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I personally prefer the Venom brickhead over the Spider-Man one. There is just something about Spider-Man's eyes that is off putting. I'm glad however that we didn't get MCU Spider-Man as the con exclusive. I very much like that design and would rather have that be the wide release set.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Hey, TLG, here's my idea for the SDCC Exclusives – make a special printed tile or two that are only in the limited number of SDCC Exclusive kits – so that the attendees can still get something that they can only get at the convention. Then sell an almost identical set to the public without those pieces. Win,win all around.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I hope this is instead of minifigs. Keeping my Superhero minfig collection complete gets seriously expensive every SDCC!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I would not be surprised if we get a more movie-styled Spider-Man BrickHeadz set next year (like we got this year for Iron Man and Captain America after the brighter, more comic-styled ones at SDCC 2016).

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

@Adam da lego guy..
I dunno if it's a real set but there is a han solo and Bobba fett double pack in the wild I saw it while browsing through hoth bricks one night and I, m with you on this I, d like to see more star wars brick eds too.
