More 2018 images: Star Wars, Friends, Disney, City
Posted by Huw,
Independent toy shops across Europe have started to populate their websites with images of 2018 sets, among them Swiss site World of Games.
Overnight, images of Star Wars, Friends and Disney were discovered, while a few days ago images of City Mining and Mountain Police and Creator surfaced.
I believe we now have images of all the January releases in our database except for a few NINJAGO and the pre-school themes. You can view everything we know about 2018 here.

The Boba buildable figure and Luke's Hut look really good, although I do wonder why Yoda's hut is being released in the same wave. Either way I'm happy to get both :)
There t new lego miners that reminded me I was going to ask if u think they will bring back lego power miners!!
Glad to get Luke and a porg with such an affordable set. Furthermore for me these two figurines will be the true good reason to buy it, because the lair looks quite narrow. But that's perfect for the price indeed. Reminds me of Vador's transformation, little set but huge value for money. Thank you Lego!
The Mountain Police headquarters has a little guy wearing a tree costume. Undercover mountain police? Whatever. I'm sold. Hah!
Love the Disney and the Friends sets! They really did well with this reboot :)
Such a boring SW sets.
I like the ability to get a Kylo Ren for as cheap as you can.
Friends & Disney Princess lines: Slight increase in male/female ratio, noticeably less cupcakes & ice cream. Blessed be the day.
Why are LEGO releasing another Darth Vader buildable figure when there are so many other characters not yet made?
Love the new gold piece from the mining sets (I only intend to aquire the starter pack as I bought all of last time sets), the new mountain lion is so cute as is the beehive and hollow trunk from the police sets. The only SW sets I aant for next year are Tatooine BP and Kylo Ren ship.
Are those the same rails as in the Joker Manor in the mine set? Love the tree guy in the mountain HQ. I liked the buildable bee hive, though, do not see the point of having a piece made for that. Many of the sets look like they made an extra effort for playability (like two helicopters to chase the villains).
I do like the Lego villain's style, by the way, those dark red villain vehicles really are super cool and have been for years.
As for the Tatoine battle pack, I will probably buy ten of that alone.
Wow, I'm guessing Friends has a new design team. They've gone from cute and colourful to outright weird. The City sets look pretty good though.
Wow, I'm surprised by the Star Wars sets. Didn't expect them to put the figures I want the most - A-Wing pilot and Resistance speeder pilot - into such cheap sets! And even the Crait Battle looks great, loads of useful pieces. Will be picking that up as soon as there's a discount. Same goes for Yod- uhm, Luke's hut.
I like the Idea of 2 microfighters in one set, the minifigures have stunning detail, and the buildable figures have reached a new level of realism, I might actually buy them! but there's something off about the old Luke. all in all: Shut up and take my money!
I count already 7 new helicopters for 2018....
I like how friends sets look fresh, but they need to tone down with colors in some of them.
Love the new shops though and art studio looks GREAT!
Stuff I noticed in friends:
TWO NEW Flowers
New animal prints
New pen piece
Book front used as tablet
I heart HC mugs everywere
New shingled roof cone in the Disney castles.
Another Friends Hotdog Stand
Pity the Lego designer who is colour blind - old Luke's hair isn't light brown, it is grey. His cape is the wrong colour too. Ridiculous and disappointing. I won't be buying 75200 as a result. Who the hell approved those colours?
I am a big Star Wars fan and so far there has not been a single TLJ set that I have wanted. That trend looks set to continue in 2018.
The new Olivia's bedroom and Stephanie's bedroom have gone into the database as 2017 sets...
Both City and Friends sets feel refreshing! The 'mini-minidoll' in 41152, is that new? And how about the baby in 41334? I think I've seen it before but it doesn't show up when searching on 'Baby' in Minifigs.
You can add the Hot Dog Stand and the Road Worker polybags to my wanted list and I am debating between the modular Skatehouse and the Winter Vacation sets (I will only buy one).
What about the other set from The Last Jedi? There should be one more. Or is that not being released until later in the year?
Those MicroFighters twin packs rock! The First order battle pack is cool too.
Well, I’ve loved the Friends line since the beginning as have been one of the strongest supporters for it on Brickset, but—it looks like I’m the minority—I think there’s a good many flops in the new sets. The color schemes on the Friendship House and treehouse are awful. The Friendship House is large and drab, and what is a “Friendship House”? I’m also not digging the new design for Olivia. The mini doll looks like an adult to me.
There are bright spots in the new sets though. I love the art center and art van. The sports arena looks fun. The camper looks amazing—I can’t wait to see the interior. And where the “let’s make sure every corner of Heartlake City has a stage” trend continues, this stage with a puppet theater is fun.
I love that the Star Wars sets are more affordable than the previous wave. I'll definitely be getting the microfighters!
I'm definitely getting Ahch-To Island Training, looks great with even better characters, although the colors on Luke look a bit too light.
As for the Tatooine Battle Pack, that would be a fine addition to the Sandcrawler if you have one, but it doesn't really look like a 'Battle Pack'-like set in my opinion.
If the Black Panther movie is being released in February, wouldn’t the two sets be released in January? That’s usually how it works.
I dunno, I really like the new Friends stuff. While it's a departure from what we've gotten before, everything feels deliberate, for lack of a better word. The colors are bold and vibrant, and the Friends' special interests are on full display.
Disney Princess stuff looks decent—a lot of castles!
The Star Wars buildable figures also look good, as we've come to expect.
@BrickoMotion looking at this page with my little one and she noticed your "BOM" symbol, then proceeded to give me a rundown on your youtube channel
@Balrogofmorgoth Indeed, though the images of those two sets don't seem to have appeared anywhere yet.
Looking at the 2018 Friends sets with the little one (5 years old), then as we click through each she proceeds to tell me that each of the Friends mini-dolls aren't normal and have something wrong with them, i.e. "Emma doesn't have brown eyes she has green eyes", "Mia doesn't have green eyes", "Andrea's hair does not look this", "Olivia should have peach skin"
City: Mining's got some of the new rollercoaster pieces in grey, plus bogies. Lovely.
Creator: Rocket Rally Car? What? Anyway the Outback Adventure looks more straightforward. Curious as to what the B and C models out be for both.
Star Wars: BOBA FETT BAYBAY!!! *insert Robot Chicken bit where Palpatine sarcastically thanks fanboys for forcing Boba Fett's backstory*
I don't know why people seem to like the twin packs of micro fighters. What upside is there to a $20 twin set over a pair of $10 sets? I love rebel pilots so would like to get multiples of the A-wing, but I really don't want to be paying for multiples of Kylo Ren and his ship.
Also not happy that we're getting another goofy First Order guy with the upturned helmet. I already have way too many of him from the last battle pack. Rule of thumb should be no less than 3 stormtrooper-type guys per battle pack.
I'm all over these Friends sets! Can't wait to check out the Mission Vehicle and the Camper Van. There's not as many horses and not as many shops! I do hope this is the start of a trend.
Does anyone know when the Star Wars sets will be released?
Disney ones are nice, I remember buying my daughter sleeping beauty, s bedroom she loved it and else, s ice Palace so she, ll love the two new castles especially sleeping beauty, s as maleficent is in this set and looks cute as a minidoll,
3 of the city ones look cool too also the friends sets look nice but not so keen on the new minidoll characteristics like Emma's change in eye colour or Andrea's new wig, I ve actually been at a lego store today I got my 5 year old the lego friends tic tac toe set, Ninjago and nexo knights seem to be the popular themes at the moment,
Welp, there goes my 2018 money! Those battle packs look great! I'm psyched to finally get some Jawas and a tusken raider! Also the buildable Boba Fett! I've been able to resist the buildables so far, but the Fett man may put me over the edge. :D The new buildable Vader looks awesome too.
Gonna need a bigger house...
I like the 2018 TLJ sets more than the 2017 ones! Cheaper, less draining on the wallet.
I'm super excited for that Mulan set, and I like the changes in Friends; it's my daughter's favorite theme, and it'll be nice to have even more minidoll variation.
Does this mean that Elves won't be a January release?
I believe Elves, and Speed Champions, are finished. They have run their 3 year course.
@TeaWeevil: I figure Elves will probably be a March release like it has been the past few years. While I certainly wouldn't mind having it sooner, if it's doing well on this release schedule I wouldn't want to mess with that.
I'm loving next year's Friends and Creator sets! But Ninjago and Elves are still going to be my "must-get" themes.
I feel like the CHI piece in the Ach-To set is a major spoiler, as whiny as that sounds. Just saying, I think it's gonna be important.
@Huw: But there are Elves sets for 2018 listed in the database....
@Aanchir: Ah, that makes sense. I hadn't paid much attention to their release date in past years. Good to know--thanks!
I would have like to see more mountains for the mountain police in general, though I love the tree suit! I really like the SW training set with the porg, and hope that Luke's outfit turns out to be fairly accurate in the end, since is fun and slightly outlandish.
I saw some leaked early pictures of 2018 Elves sets so I'm pretty sure some are coming next year! Type "lego elves 2018 leak" into google to see them yourselves! :)
That cougar is awsome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fett and Vader look really nice. I like that Vader has a second "cape" at his waste--helps a lot.
Kinda bummed to see another Vader buildable figure already, but I'm happy at least that they weren't brickheadz ;) A 2nd Rey was odd but at least they removed the helmet. The 2nd Vader will be the 1st one I'm able to skip.
The rest of the Star Wars wave (save for the Grievous speeder) is on the wish list though.
A surprising amount of dislike going to the Star Wars sets which is really strange to me. This is already shaping up to be an excellent wave! The Ahch-To set looks pretty good. The main draw of course being the minifigures but the set itself doesn't look bad at all. The Defense Of Crait set looks excellent! Hopefully it'll be a reasonable price but I can unfortunately see it being a $50 set...
Though I am wondering when the images for the rest of the sets will be revealed..? I'm looking forward to seeing what they do with Yoda's Hut and I can't wait to see the set that's rumored to have Finn and Phasma!
As for the other themes: The City sets look pretty good. The Mining sets look excellent, and the Mountain Police sets look fun, but alas, we'll have to wait some more for the elusive wave that contains normal, everyday city buildings. Technic looks excellent and Creator looks pretty good as well.
Microfighter double packs look great - definite buys for me. Less excited by the single packs as I have the original Falcon and made my own SF TIE micro a year ago.
The ones I'm looking forward to the most are Ninjago, elves and modular buildings so nothing too exciting for me this time, but I am curious about Yodas hut. And might just have to get the Mulan Disney set for, well, Mulan. Does anybody know if she's been in other sets?
@TeaWeevil that goes to show how much attention I have spent on them then ;)
@Majella Rose: She hasn't! I'm also going to pick up the Mulan set. I was 9 when the movie came out, and when we got it on VHS I watched it all the time. There was one week where I watched Mulan every single day.
TLG is making it very easy for me not to buy any lego in 2018 :-)
@jamzee44 The retailer catalog shows a January release for the Star Wars sets. However, it might vary by a month or two depending on country.
Glad all, but one of the sets I want falls in the $30 and under category. This will help me save up for the Han Solo movie and Jurassic world sets this summer.
Silly me -- I thought I could save some money in 2018...
Strange things that stand out in the SW line to me:
- 14 years no Yoda hut and now in the exact same wave as Lukes hut? That is almost as bizarr as the exact same Resistance X-wings in such short time, despite different color scheme
- FO battle pack is almost as boring as the first FO battle pack or worse, now with only two different torsos
- third FO battle pack in a row, while we had only one Resistance battle pack and the new updated Resistance minifigs would definitely justify a battle pack here, the first ones were too plain with no pant print and too little diversification
- it might be me but I cannot understand the importance of the Tatooine battle pack - we got so many cheap and easy to get Jawas in the past years (advent calendar, Droid Escape), Tusken as well ( Landspeeder, Skyhopper). There should have been a Sandtrooper included, then I would understand it
- Luke is dressed in white with dark blond hair - what? He was in Episode 7 and clearly not white at all.
- The System scale Sky Speeder is looking good but why add all the builds? I'm all in for little hangar vehicles or little builds, but this clearly adds a 20€ and who needs those?
- Microfighters and especially minifigs are nice, have always been a fan of those. I don't mind the 2-packs too much and I understand they prefer to sell one 20€ set instead of 2x 10€ sets, but it's an unnecessary move here, as the 10€ point is pretty important for impulse buy.
Loving the battle packs and the new figs. Figures seem to be the winners here. Not crazy about the individual builds but looking forward to getting the Battle Packs.
I don't know about anyone else but the A-wing vs. Tie Silencer microfighters looks amazing! Two great minifigs in a small set as well as detailed micro fighters! Talk about a steal! If there's one set I will get of the new Star Wars it will be that one.
Looking forward to 10260: the Diner modular building!
I think people just like to complain. Honestly, these are some of the best looking Star Wars sets we've had. The Defense of Crait set has a phenomenal design. The last wave of TLJ sets were great too, the Assault Walker was designed beautifully and so was the Resistance Bomber. I think people aren't happy unless they are unhappy. Stop complaining and learn to admire the designs and how detailed and realistic they really look considering they are made up of hundreds of small plastic shapes. The minifig selection for Star Wars look great, however I'm not sure about the set that's still missing. So far, it's confirmed that it comes with Finn and Rose in their First Order disguises, BB-8, and Captain Phasma. I would LOVE for it to come with a Praetorian Guard or two as well, so hopefully we get that image soon enough.
This pertains to later in the year but I know that the leaked descriptions of the six Infinity War sets say they each come with a different Infinity Stone. Anyone else think they might use those new pieces they used for the chunks of gold in those mining sets as Infinity Stones? That would be pretty neat and they would look great in all those colors. Let me know what you guys think.
@yamaki if you look at images of Luke from TLJ it’s actaully very accurate
the rey and luke set is a must buy for me along with the battle pack still a bit held back by what crate looks like but over a really good last jedie winter wave
Another police set, half repeating the previous. Forest police, swamp police, mountain police... what's next? Cave police? Maybe a desert police? I really want to see a good medical sets, more good city services and urban environment. The city is not just firefighters and police. It was cool to see something like a garbage-recycling plant (not just garbage trucks), postal services. I really want to see another farm sets or something like that, maybe some sports sets. Need more of that what surrounds us in our cities.
City Mining is rather disappointing. The 'mine' set is taken up by that weird large vehicle that seems to be a huge up-scaled version of a much smaller vehicle. The new gold pieces are great though. Mountain police is bad. Some of the builds are rather blocky. The police boat looks like a blue version of the criminals boat in the Swamp Police Helicopter set.
I was looking at some of the names without images and saw Blue Baseplate. About time. Hopefully its the same color as the old blue baseplate.
More importantly, under 2018 modular building the name is {Diner}. Well very interestingly, I saw a 'leaked' image of a modular diner which I said was fake because the minifigs had proper faces and there was a minifig that was obviously Elvis (I said Lego would not put an IP in a modular) including his pink Cadillac which did not look like the Creator style. The whole building was also too retro/almost modern to fit with the other modulars. It also had a gym.
Could it have been the real 2018 modular?
My thoughts on this winter wave. The Last Jedi sets are really good. Though I will say not as good as TFA and Rogue One's second wave. I love The Ahch-To Training set! Perfect timing with Yoda's Hut coming in the spring. Location sets are great and I think this one is amazing. And of course there is the much anticipated Luke minifigure, shocking to get him in a $30 set and not a $100 one. I'm debating over getting this or the Yoda's Hut set. I think I will go with the Yoda's Hut as that seems like the build might be better, and I have wanted that set for around 10 years now. The Ski Speeder is cool. I love the side builds, I think the gun is cool and the tower is great. The Speeder itself though is meh, Not bad but not entirely good. As for the rest of the sets... I don't care, there just boring. I really wish Lego would stop making these dull sets and instead make vehicles and locations we have never got before, or a remake of one that we have not gotten in 10 years. The Yoda's Hut is a very appreciated set I think and I would enjoy more like it. Not just remakes of sets we got 3 years ago.
City is too big of a theme for a full analysis. So I will just say that I think the Mining sets are great, with the big Expert Mining set being my favorite City set of the 2018 wave. Mountain Police sets are better then I thought they would be. I think the RV is cool and I love the City Park Easter egg. I'm hoping for a continuation of the Jungle sets this year as last year's sets might be one of the best City waves in awhile.
The Star Wars set images are gone.
