More 2018 images: NINJAGO and Batman Movie revealed!
Posted by TheBrickPal,
Many of the first 2018 sets have been revealed in the last week or so, and some of the biggest themes now all have set images for their respective January waves: NINJAGO and The LEGO Batman Movie!
You can find them in the database, courtesy of World of Games - including the beautiful 70643 Temple of Resurrection, where this is the first time we're seeing an official photo of it.
- NINJAGO: Sons of Garmadon and Spinjitzu Masters
- The LEGO Batman Movie
Which tickle your fancy?

That Egghead Mech... Absolutely majestic.
Usual assortment of passable vehicles from Ninjago - but that Temple of Resurrection looks like a nice little build.
Wow! I want some of those TLBM sets.
Nice spaceship for Batman, will look good with my Batcave from the series.
Yes! More Batsuits! I'm doing a MOC of Baatman's wardrobe exactly or almost exactly like the movie! The more batsuits, the better! Also really like the dune buggy for some reasons, just looks good! And I'm not in to Ninjago, so ehh on those ones.
The Batman sets all look good, and I'm probably going to pick up the egghead set. As for Ninjago, I'm definitely buying one spinjitzu set (probably Cole for the colors) and I also like the Sons of Garmadon HQ and the big temple set.
That temple looks really cool. More and more, I realise that Ninjago is doing a lot of what I used to love about classic Castle...
The fact the temple looks great AND transforms is really nice work by LEGO. Clearly the team put in all the work into that set as the others are just 'ehh'.
I'm really hoping that S8: Sons of Garmadon will redeem Ninjago. Hands of Time was just played too safe in my opinion.
@David1985: I dunno, I quite like the ninja vehicles. Kai’s and Lloyd’s in particular really feel unlike vehicles we’ve seen before. The idea of a biker gang with cultish tendencies as baddies is pretty clever too, even if edgy oversized bikes do tend to be a more predictable part of any new Ninjago wave.
There’s no doubt the Temple of Resurrection is the standout set, though, much as Dragob’s Forge was for the previous season’s sets. Love the unique design and can’t wait to see the function in action.
It’s great to see spinners again, and the ninja’s costumes in those sets are pretty interesting. Sort of along the lines of the NRG and Airjitzu five of the past, but instead of the whole figure becoming elemental energy it’s just a burst of energy from their hearts. While it doesn’t have quite the same unearthly majesty as those past figs, I do like that it’s easier to tell where the suit itself begins and ends.
The standard ninja suits for the new wave are also incredible. At first when we’d just seen Lloyd’s in the SDCC teaser, I wasn’t sure it had enough to set it apart from his movie suit besides color, but now seeing the suits in more detail, they have a wonderfully unique design language. I especially love Kai’s and Nya’s.
Overall there’s a lot for me to look forward to as a Ninjago fan!
Those Batman sets look amazing. I love the classic Green Arrow and the Hawkgirl figures, also... Wonder Mutt?!?! The sets themselves are awesome, I'm definetley getting the Bat-Rocket as I tried years ago to recreate the one from LEGO Batman 3 without any success. The Ninjago stuff doesn't appeal to me at all.
Glad this third wave of TLBM isn't gigantic. My wallet can't take the strain of another 20 movie tie-in sets.
Killow versus. Samurai X, Nostalgia. Exo force style... I miss that theme.
Oh, what tickle's my fancy? Why the Bat Space Shuttle naturally! ;)
That Egg Head mech looks good too and I really love those details and masks in the Temple of the Resurrection.
Like cehable01 above says...my poor wallet!!! The strain of more awesome sets!
Egghead! Thrilled to see another villain from the 60s show. I don't know why the collectible series 2 didn't have one, like King Tut in the first series.
The Egghead Mech for definite. After all, its Vincent Frikken Price!
Now that TLBM has come and gone, I have to ask myself when, if ever, we will receive such a generous out-pouring of Batman's enemies? Accordingly, I will have to purchase every single set so that I don't miss out...
No acoustic guitar with Reggae Mon? Bummer!
No dragons?!!
The Batman sets are great and the new figures are Fantastic!! Those and the new Minifigures Series will finish off the film nicely.
Didn't know what to expect with the Space Shuttle but it looks incredible, my son will love playing with that, I'll have the figures :-)
Geez Lego, you're killing my wallet! I quite like a lot of these sets and I'm looking forward to getting them.
Couldn’t they have at least just provided one dragon!
I wish they had clearer package art-I can't see the names of any of the new characters.
The Justice League set looks really weak to me..
I, to am surprised by the lack of dragons.
it looks so odd that they used the lego ninjago movie garmadon when this is in the tv show it just looks so ungly but i think the batman movie wave looks solid so i will get some sets from that
The Ninjago lineup looks pretty solid, with the exception of the SOG Headquarters. I also have to say that Nightcrawler actually looked better in the prelims IMO, which is weird. Still a decent set though.
Here are my thoughts on the new wave of sets. The Buggy is better then the 2016 one, and Captain Boomerang is also an improvement. But the price is terrible. $20 is just not worth it, had another minifigure been included I would think differently. I would rather pick up the Ra's Al Ghul set, as that has better minifigures and the side build is great. The Justice League Anniversary Party is a neat little set but it's just not my type of thing. The build is sweet looking but I feel is boring and does not have a lot going on. The minifigures are incredible though. The Eggheads Mech is great, 2 of the best minifigures from this wave and a really cool build. I love how it looks like it belongs to Egghead and not just a boring mech like the one in the new Lex Luthor set. My favorite set is the Harley Quinn Cananball Attack. An amazing new update for Harley Quinn, and we get the fantastic looking Crazy Quilt, and my personal favorite from the set Gentleman Ghost. The truck build is actually really nice and the cannon is amazing! I have been very pleased with TLBM's vehicle builds, they are not the normal boring builds but are instead fun and unique to the character who is opperating them. The side buildings are also nice, though I am a sucker for those things. The Bat-Shuttle has the worst minifigures from this wave, but the great price and build makes up for it. The shuttle and I dig the the little side builds in the set. My favorites are the Eggman and Harley Quinn set. They are the only ones I might get. Overall a better wave then the last one. But to be honest I am really sick of Lego Batman. The Marvel sets went down in quality and I'm afraid it might have been because of this theme. It has had an incredible run but I think it can end now.
My thoughts on the new Ninjago sets. The minifigures are fantastic, from the ninjas them selfs to the villain's. I love the bright colour scheme's of the ninjas and the women in the Temple set. The bigfig guy is also incredible. Now onto the sets. The Katana set is boring, great figs, boring vehicle. Same with the Street Race set. I dig the S.O.G Headquarters though. Reminds me of the training set from the first wave in 2011. The spinner gimmick I couldn't care less about. I don't know what it is and I don't care, this has always been the case with Ninjago gimmicks for me. (Or any gimmick a theme trys to use.) The Ninja Nightcrawler has a great colour scheme but the build looks like a boring remake of the Riddle set from TLBM theme. The Samurai X set has one great bigfig, but oh my that build is trash. It looks like a child made it, just terrible. Finally we get my favorite set by far and the only one I might get. The Temple Of Resurrection, what a great set, I love the build, I love the colours and I love the minifigs. Ninjago best sets come from their location playsets I think and this proves it. Overall a meh wave. One great set and a lot of mediocre ones. To be honest I was not even expecting a non movie Ninjago wave this year so I should be thankful. But it seems very Star Wars ish with a lot of bland boring and dull stuff.
@Khscarymovie: I think it's a bit unfair to compare Ninja Nightcrawler to the Riddle Racer. All they really have in common is that they're green cars — take away the colors and the Nightcrawler feels more like a Batmobile.
I feel like the Katana VII is the opposite of boring… on the contrary, it's maybe the first Ninjago boat with the same intense, futuristic style as the 2012 ninja vehicles! Basically every other boat in Ninjago to date has either been a smaller speedboat or has had the more traditional style of the Destiny's Bounty.
