City Advent Calendar: Day 24

Posted by ,

LEGO City Advent Calendars have been released annually since 2005 and all but two of those sets have featured the same festive character on the final day. Presumably that tradition will continue in 2017, bringing a magnificent Advent Calendar to a perfect conclusion.

Santa Claus minifigures usually featured a plain red suit and a long beard until 2012, at which point the figure was redesigned for the eighth series of the Collectable Minifigures. Another update has been made this year, replacing the minifigure's existing torso with a more detailed version which includes some shading around the fur lining and brand new printing on the back of the torso! I love the metallic gold buckle and the bulging waistline is certainly appropriate for Santa.

A striped candy cane is slotted into the belt on Santa's back and he wears a traditional hat with a white lining and a small bobble which hangs to the right hand side. The bushy beard also looks marvellous, covering a relatively new face which was introduced in 60153 People Pack - Fun at the Beach earlier this year. Santa wears a pair of spectacles with narrow frames and comes complete with a medium nougat sack, presumably containing presents! It would have been great to see some cookies or a glass of milk included too, although the figure looks absolutely fine without them.

Overall - 5.0 - This is the best Santa Claus minifigure yet in my opinion, concluding the 2017 LEGO City Advent Calendar very nicely!

I hope you have enjoyed our reviews of the LEGO City Advent Calendar this year. We have received plenty of excellent gifts, among my favourites of which are the minifigure from day eight, the seaplane from day ten, the helicopter from day seventeen and today's brand new Santa Claus figure! They look splendid when gathered together on the display mat, as shown below, although a frozen pond would have been a welcome addition to the mat as showing off the container ship and some of the Coast Guard items is a bit tricky.

By in Hungary,

My favourites are the vehicles: the black-red plane, the helicopter. And above all: the gingerbread house! So adorable in a small scale.

Great job on the calendar, Chris! The Santa minifigure from today on its own makes me wish that I'd gotten this year's City calendar.

By in United Kingdom,

For me it’s the ice sculpture, gingerbread house and seaplane! Actually I quite like the snowblower too.

By in Poland,

Dang, wish I'd known there'd be an updated Santa this year, might've gotten the calendar for myself if I had.

Very happy with the entire calender actually.

Great looking Santa figure. The microscale vehicles/toys are always a highlight to see, the gingerbread house particularly enjoyable this year.

What'd be the global mark?

A fine new Santa and the best model of the day.
The toys have all been great this year, but the red plane was possibly the best.

Happy Christmas everyone!

By in United States,

I love all of the toys. But for some strange reason this is the second year in a row where Santa's hat definitely would not click onto his head. Last year you could see that the molding was bad. This year there was no obvious defect, but the silly thing still would not go on. Had to resort to spare parts. Molded in China?
Otherwise, can't wait for 2018!
