Ford Mustang revs up for March release
Posted by Huw,
10265 Ford Mustang must be LEGO's worst kept secret ever, what with the company posting an image of it on a web page a few weeks ago, and toy stores in Europe selling it so far in advance of its official release that some websites have had time to order it, have it shipped, build it and review it already.
Anyway, if you are one of the few people who haven't seen it yet, read on...

Omg, what a beautiful car!!!
This might be the best large Lego car yet!
I’ve heard from others that this car is at a slightly smaller scale compared to others in the line, which I can definitely see looking at the size of the seats.
1471 parts for £119.99 is alright value, I like the look of this Mustang with its nice dark blue and white colour scheme and I like the custom elements of the build.
Personally I probably won't get this as non of the big scale vehicles interest me part from the Volkswagen T1 Camper. Though I'm sure a load of people will like this set.
Good Job LEGO as usual :)
Finally! Turnable front wheels on a creator model. Even if they arent technically "steerable" this is huge. My kids love playing with the Mini Cooper/VW/etc. but get frustrated when they try to zoom them around and the front wheels get hung up. This will also be a big improvement for display.
Looks so cool..
I can tell you: CapnRex is right, it is the best Lego car until now! I am just building it now and it looks great! Forget the marketing desaster, the product is a no-brainer. Well done, Mike Psiaki!
My favorite brick color and a great model. Yes please!
With just that spoiler and splitter, it would look a bit like one you'd see in trans-am!
I love this, and it's too beautiful not to get, but it bugs me how at 8.15 pence per piece, it's over 25% more expensive than the Ferarri F40 released less than 4 years ago. I know inflation and exchange rates plays its part, but I think this price increase goes beyond that.
And the best part is that with a March 1 release date, this will get me a Marvel Bricktober set. And since I will get Flintstones then as well (plus one smaller set), I can do it on a separate order and get 2 Marvel Bricktober sets and not have to buy stuff I don't want just to qualify!!!
awesome. I love this. the JB Aston was so disappointing, but this is amazing. (just hope the Marvel Bricktober set makes it to France....please Lego!!!!!)
Brothers-Brick has their review up. I'm looking forward to reading Brickset's. I'll echo the earlier comments:
This is hands-down the best Creator car they've made, and looks to be among the upper echelon of sets of all time. Mike Psiaki nailed the silhouette, especially the rake of the fastback, and the treatment of the front fender around the headlights and the slight projection of the car's snout are tremendously executed. This is one of those sets that if you didn't know it was Lego, it would cause you to stop, look at it, do a double-take, and ask "Wait, that's Lego?"
I haven't been this excited about a set and its release since the Saturn V (this statement includes the Falcon, which I have but haven't built yet). Given how disappointed I was with the finished version of the Aston Martin, I would consider this design a triumph. This one might find a spot to be displayed on its own, rather than among the other Creator Expert vehicles. This line is one of the best things Lego has going, IMO, and seeing the evolution of sets since the VW Camper has been pretty cool.
What a beauty!
Beautiful! Awesome color and detail!
Rally Vincent's colors! Must have!
It’s cool you can change out the engine.
“Lego’s worst kept secret”
Then how come no one told me!
Yeah, muscle cars are all well and good, but when will we get a classic 911?
Now that is nice. Not to happy about the price but it is still a better deal than the James Bond car.
it's such a pity LEGO doesn't really makes drum-painted metallic and chrome pieces anymore :-(
Would have made this set twice as good.
Really good looking set! :) and you can turn the wheels, soo cool.
Beautiful rendition, much more attractive model than the DB5 (which I'll buy at a discount when I find one), but once again, an additional 10€ for Benelux countries… and even France! :s
I'm not a Ford guy, never really have been, but I may have to consider purchasing this.
never picked up any of the vechicle sets before but this changes things...absolutely awesome! I like the blue. Black would have been too plain.
Booooooooring...
Sweet - this is definitely on my WTB list.
The green colour of the Bullitt Mustang would have been even better, IMO.
For whatever reason, the brickset listing for this set simply comes up as "car" rather than "ford mustang". Might just be a bug, but I'm mentioning it just in case.
While I'm not a car guy, this is a gorgeous set, and one I'll have to consider.
All those dark blue parts!!!!!!
I'm not much of a car guy, but the ability to swap out the engine to have one of those exposed ones seems really cool!
I'm sure to buy this! I think it looks fantastic and seems a fun build (need to read the Capn's review). To be honest, I wouldn't have needed all the 'add ons' but I'll take them :)
Might wait a little to see whether any interesting promotion creeps up that nicely goes with it, but in principle it's what you would call a 'day one purchase' for me.
And yes, even I knew this was coming and I make no effort whatsoever to go hunting for leaked images etc.
First set this year that really seems cool to me. Also seems to be a good prize and I love that you can customize it. Will probably be the first creator expert set i buy!
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL SET, MAN!!!!
Way better than the previous Aston Martin one, this Mustang is a must buy!
Also, I would love to see a set based on Mustang's current generation. Maybe a GT40 or a GT90 too...
Wow, wow, wow!! Must have! Parents had a white convertible '65 back in the day (before Dad wrecked it), so this definitely brings back memories!
@Mr_Orange - completely agree - green Bullitt Mustang would have been awesome(r). Looking now to see how many of these blue pieces are available in Dark Green.
Oh so pretty, do I try and convince my wife to let me find some space for it or simply hide it on my desk at work and hope she never stops by or sees my credit card bill?
After the disappointing Aston Martin I kind of gave up on Lego releasing great cars but this thing looks spectacular! Very well done!
Wow! Nice Model.
Does anyone know if this will count as one of the selected sets for double VIP points March 1?
Beautiful and a must have! But I also agree with Speed Champions Fan... when will we get a classic 911? Or even better... a 356 speedster or 550 spyder.
^^No one knows anything anymore regarding upcoming promotions as LEGO has stopped revealing them in their store calendars. It's sad.
As others have said, this is, IMO, an absolutely gorgeous looking model. I loved it at first sight when the first picture of it was leaked, but now I must admit I am totally endeared to it. The angles, especially in the front bumper, are spot on. LEGO Creator Expert just keeps getting more amazing each year!
Awesome car! Will definitely be getting one, but the VW still reigns supreme!
I've known about this set for weeks, but I had no idea all of those modifications were included.
As a Speed Champions fan I love the Mustang. But the price $NZ 300 is the same as many of the Creator Modulars sold in New Zealand so may be a pass for me :(
I reckon this is the best large scale vehicle since the Sopwith Camel, a real return to form for TLG!
"DE €129.99 – FR €139.99" LEGO compagny, just a question, do you know that it's the same currency in those two contries ?
@deusxanime The paint job is right on, although her car was specifically a Shelby Mustang GT-500 (1967).
“LEGO’s worst kept secret ever”? Someone’s forgetting bionicle 2015!
I hope there's a smaller scale polybag or a small promotional box like there was with the Mini Cooper, VW Beetle, and the camper.
Rumor has there will be giving a free keychain with purchase, only from 3/1-3/10. hope I can get my hands on one.
As a huge fan of both LEGO and classic Mustangs, this is a must have for me.
I'd love to find a way to mod this as much as possible to replicate the 1967 Shelby mustang GT500 from Gone in 60 seconds with it being Eleanor
I want. That's all I can really say here. Also, I love the customization options. That's cool!
Good deal and all, but it just looks too blocky in my opinion. I'll pass.
