Batman SDCC exclusive revealed!
Posted by CapnRex101,
Following the earlier announcement of 77902 Captain Marvel and the Asis, LEGO has now unveiled 77903 The Dark Knight of Gotham City on Twitter. This impressive model celebrates the eightieth anniversary of Batman's introduction.
It will be available for lottery winners to purchase at San Diego Comic-Con, costing $45.00.
You can view its packaging after the break...

See, this set I like. No exclusive figures that cost an arm and a leg, and it's a nice display piece anyone can put together themselves (sans the "Batman 80 years" tile). Well executed on this one, Lego.
Love the vignette style for this!!! Might try to build it on my own at some point!
This is the style of sets I would love to buy! Small, simple and very displayable :)
Judging by the close-up shot of the minifig's "eyes" on their Twitter link, LEGO is just keeping on chugging with the awful print issues, huh?
I also LOVE this model. this year's builds are much much better than last years IMO. I can't wait to try and piece them together.
The flesh colored eyes is pretty weird looking. You'd think that on the promotional images at least they'd have it looking normal
@fredbob392, OptimShi: They probably realized misrepresenting the eyes as pure white was a bad idea given previous releases, and so chose to stop misrepresenting them. Rather than fix the problem, that any number of reasons, valid or otherwise, may be preventing them from doing. A shame, really. I only just got back into LEGO last year so I'm not sure how long this has been a problem, but I know that it's a relatively new one.
I think this is the first SDCC exclusive I’ve wanted. It’s gorgeous!
Just seen this on Instagram... I looks so cool just like the captain marvel one, I wonder what the starwars one will look like?
Good luck to all those who grab this it's a masterpiece..
Love it! Prefer it to the Captain Marvel one. I think BrickHeadz started as an SDCC exclusive? Maybe we could have a vignette theme spring-boarded out of this one.... i’d buy ‘em
Cool vignette!
does the head not have the standard 'bandana' to give it white eyes?
Definitely not going to pay scalper prices, but this would be super cool display set. I would get it if it was a regular LEGO Store item.
I love the background!
Kind of reminds me of the LEGO Batman cover-- all we need is a Two-Face trophy fig for the building at the far right of the vignette.
Where are the out cries that this is not available world wide on the Lego online shop!??
Providing the instructions are made available, most people could build a version. That’s nice and accessible.
This looks cool indeed. Even cooler that it seems pretty easy to replicate.
Cool, but is purely for display so I will not be looking for this on eBay as I will Captain Marvel’s set.
I had hopes for a super-cool DC set featuring Shazam vs Doctor Sivana and Mr. Mind to make up for not having any sets for the movie.
This set is amazing! It reminds me of the opening of the animated series. Too bad it’s limited to a very small audience. I’ll probably Bricklink the pieces.
Nice. Love the back city at night brick built scenery.
I'm glad it doesn't include desirable unique minifigs of major characters, unlike the Captain Marvel one. The exclusivity of the set itself and the printed tile are reward enough for the lottery winners.
I hate exclusives
I think the best feature is the bat-signal on the nightsky in the background. That's really clever.
Having said that, yes, I hope the instructions go up online. This looks like it wouldn't be too hard to recreate.
@LegoSonicBoy:
What misrepresenting? It's pretty common for masked superheroes in comic books and animation to have pure white eyes because it makes them pop more than if you try to fill them in with too much detail. It's kind of like how the early Joker art looked really clunky because they always drew a bunch of crease lines across his forehead.
@Kazashimo:
They've been screwing us over for nine years now. Give us some time to work up the energy...
@Spartan Ghost:
Mine dates back to 2005, at the latest, since I recall having to cobble together Batman and Robin. It may have earned me my free Batman minifig pin (the original grey/black Batman from 2006, sans cape, with a pin-back glued to it) from someone who had some sort of ties to The LEGO Company and was displaying stuff next to me at the second Brick Bash in Ann Arbor, MI. That's actually how I found out there was going to be a Batman theme...
This is exactly what I love to see in a con exclusive! No special figures, virtually no exclusive parts. Neat display set that any Lego fan can enjoy if Lego releases the instructions. I loathe comic con exclusives but if there has to be one this is the way to do it. Great job Lego!
This looks really well done. I like the forced perspective and the Batsignal looks great.
One day we'll realize that once was a toy company has become a collectibles company.
@Phathead
Looks like this one you can build most of this on your own. Except for the 80 year tile.
No worries man. Keep on rockin' in the free world...doot doola doot doo. Doo doo!
The eyes make it undesirable for me. Pinkish? Really? And why not giving him the utility belt piece from Lego Batman Movie?
Another really nice display piece, and yes, one I would purchase were it freely available. Oh well, such is life.
I agree with the 1st comment made by CaptainRogers. This display piece is one anybody can build. What a fantastic model, and a great display. Excellent, LEGO! What a nice way to celebrate 80 years of Batman.
Looking at the full-size image https://pbs.twimg.com/media/D9bfNi3XsAEEdSI.jpg it looks like the only unique part (the "Batman 80 years" sign) actually is a sticker, so you're really not missing out on anything by building this yourself. The round bat-signal tile (part 14769pb120) is widely available for ~30c, and the figure (at least apart from the pink eyes) is pretty basic too. And of course the set really don't depend on that specific figure, so you're free to replace it with your favorite Batman.
That looks very cool! Quite like the vignette style.
Sure, most people won't be able to get one of them, but with a bit of effort it should be easy to get the parts and build it. I'll be on the lookout for the instructions to build one for myself.
How high will scalpers go this time? 500$ ? 1000$ ?
Great set. Shouldn't be an exclusive only.
@somnium and @axeleng
The Batman Minifig is the current Juniors (4+) Batman, where the white bandana printing isn't that good on the light flesh head. Nothing to worry about!
This set looks really really nice ! I hope the instructions will get available after the convention.
So you have to win a lottery to be able to BUY it????
This is a good exclusive set: It's a great display piece (I really like the look!), no exclusive figure one does need to complete anything and it just looks great. Why can lego do this for DC fans and messes with the marvel ones?
Is it known who designed this set?
Very nicely done. Great design. Perspective is amazing. I wish I could get my hands on one. Actually I have a Spiderman and a Venom minifig. Maybe I can try to create something similar.
The white eyes on Batman figs with regular skin tones have always looked pretty bad from my experience
It looks pretty awesome! I especially love Comic Con sets that you could theoretically moc with existing pieces.
Nice set, available to Lottery winners at comic con for $45, and then on eBay for 3X that much. Would purchase this set if it was listed on lego.com.
I’m changing my mind - this might complement my Avengers Tower GWP, so I’m thinking I’m going to eBay it. Dang it LEGO!!!
Have you seen how much they trying to sell these. Good luck. Might as well wait until they get released in Lego shop. Exclusive could be better.
