Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 10

Posted by ,

Following an excellent exclusive minifigure that emerged on day nine, another miniature model seems quite likely today. Perhaps we may begin moving away from the Sequel Trilogy.

Read on and find out after the break...

Rather than leaving the Sequel Trilogy entirely, we have instead shifted focus to Star Wars: The Force Awakens with this rendition of the Quadjumper. Its distinctive shape has been replicated nicely and the colour combination of dark orange, dark bluish grey and light bluish grey looks perfectly accurate when compared with the source material.

I am particularly impressed with the trans-clear cockpit and the repulsor stabiliser vanes look splendid. Ideally, they would have been dark orange but the angle appears authentic. Moreover, the construction techniques are exceptionally innovative, despite the small scale of this model, incorporating 1x2 jumper plates which are effective.

Overall - 4.5 - This is probably my favourite miniature model from the 2019 Star Wars Advent Calendar thus far, although certain subtle details could be improved.

Hm! I like this much better than the transport from the other day - distinctive and very recognizable.

Felt a bit fiddly to build and the proportions are slightly off (it's wider than it is long!) , but it's distinctive and the burnt orange colour looks good.

Only got a limited time before school and the instructions where hard to read so took me a total of 8 mins to build a build that should take a most 2 mins. The end product wasnt worth it imo, not my favourite build.

I'm usually a quick builder but this just baffled me.

Battle of the Licensed Advent Calendars continues. After another colossal fail on Day 9, HP fans can now feel SW breathing down their neck. But it appears once again, when faced with adversity, HP responds with an exclusive offering- this time in the form of Little Ron with Christmas Sweater. Pairing with his chum Harry from Day 1, this figure is exclusive to the advent calendar, matching the exclusive "Old Luke" fig which emerged in yesterday's SW calendar.

On the flip side, we have a mini-build of the quadjumper from SW: TFA. The build has garnered a seemingly positive response, although it has been slightly divisive. This one is close, but based on a HP's perfect score vs a 4.5/5 for SW, the point goes to HP. Once again, HP has staved off SW for another day, and the score is now:

HP- 6
SW- 4

To be continued..

This is a great little model I thought the Quadjumper was a badass set.

The ship is still a joke, but the model is nice.

It was only when I assembled it and looked at it did I finally realise what it was which is always a pleasant surprise! After a slow start it would appear that this year's Advent Calendar is beginning to hit its stride.

I like this thing. I would have purchased the full-scale set but it's too expensive for the piece count. One thing I do wonder though; is the small rear window included in this model (perhaps with a transparent 1x1 plate between the engines)?

Mine was missing the 1x3 dark grey plate.

Its alot more complicated then that though. While it is 4-6 on the day to day scores, its tying on the overall scores at 40/50 each, but Star Wars has scored consistently higher. Its lowest being a 3 for the island on day 8, to HP's 2.5 for its banners on day 5. Its only the overly generous scoring of HP's Minifigs making it seem so close.

I am basing this on the head-to-head matchup. So I’m not looking at total cumulative score- just which model comes out on top each day. While I’ve generally been sticking with the reviewers score, I am also basing this on my opinions too.

Also, “overly generous scoring”on HP minifigs, is just an opinion as well.

Lastly, I’m just having a laugh doing this- it’s not meant to be taken super seriously.

Nice little model. The rear side didn't compare well with the actual ship, but that's ok. The instructions were very confusing for me.

Cool, 4 donut studs!

Pretty nice. It's immediately recognizable and once you're done with it you've got some excellent pieces for in the bin. :)
