More images of the Friends theatre
Posted by Huw,
The other set that surfaced on LEGO's instructions portal the other day was 41714 Andrea's Theatre School. It, too, has now appeared in the Instructions Plus app, providing us with better images.
It looks very interesting: the elaborate facade of the building opens to reveal a stage, seating and two royal boxes. A wealth of stage props and costumes are provided which, appropriately, are stored backstage.
Four minidolls are included: Andrea, Freya, Ollie and Professor Adrian. It will be released on June 1st, and you can view more images after the break.

I genuinely think this is one of the best Friends ever! The designers really knew how to utilise space, parts and the budget gave to them. :)
This is one of the best Friends sets ever.
Extremely good
Looks like an absolute perfect Friends set. I never realized how much Heartlake City was missing a proper acting venue!
This set looks so amazing!
Does anyone have any idea for the price and piece count. Looking at it I would guess $120, with 1100-1350 pieces.
Yet another example of how Heartlake City benefits from not single-mindedly focusing on policing petty criminals (Lego City) and is instead able to focus funds on the arts.
Getting this for my Muppets!
That guy looks familiar. Sure I’ve seen him somewhere on a recent trip to Madrid …

EXCELLENT IDEA
This has a tremendous play potential!

Gonna fill it with 50 Statlers & Waldorfs
Impressive looking set... but what's Noel Edmunds doing there?
This Organ needs a Phantom! Friends is really treating us to stuff this year!
Loving the postbox and Elves reference.
The Friends designers have been really stepping it up lately, first the modular street, the space centre, now this? This might be my favourite one of all the Friends sets released yet!

It's 1154 pieces, and in Europe will cost EUR 100. (As confirmed by StoneWars.)
I agree with the others, it's one of the best Friends sets I've ever seen and will be the first Friends set I buy (for the parts - maybe I'll start working on a modular building series Theater next)
This is fantastic. I've never been into the Friends sets, but I know a few people who would love this set, including me. Massive amounts of playability, well done!
Liking the 375 backdrop.
Very impressed with this set. Would love a Modular version though
I'd love to modify this into a display for the Muppets collectible minifigures!

Absolutely.
It's a match made in heaven. Waldorf and Statler at the ready ;-)
Sweet! Shakespeare fans get Yorrick, a witch and Birnam Wood. And Elves fans get a sticker.
Loving this playset style which doubles as a modularish building for a downtown street.
Love the facade, it's like the cinema and diner modular buildings mated and had a little friends baby set lol!
This one will be joining the wish list to keep an eye out for at big discounts later in the year for sure.

more importantly, if that's Noel... where's Mr Blobby?!
I’ve never really been interested in Friends, but this set is incredible. I love the subtle references to Cats, Wicked, and Phantom of the Opera

HAHAH - this was my first thoughts also when I saw the balconies :)

What is the connection?
OMG, a fully enclosed building, I am sure this can be modded to function like the modular buildings.
This further reinforces my belief that Friends is the best done non-licensed, non-adult focused LEGO theme. And I hated it when it first came out, as, at the time, they were just basically City designs with a more vibrant color scheme. The "girly" colors have been played down in recent years, and Friends now does a better City than City.
Thinking about converting it into a Muppet Theatre. I am sure if LEGO eventually does do a range of sets with the Muppets, it's going to be a repeat of Sesame Street--one big pricey set.
Another great Friends set! Might be one of the best themes right now...
This set is gorgeous! The main build is wonderfully clever, with how it closes up to form a complete facade, and I love the easter eggs referencing Elves and Classic Castle!
I'm always amused by minifig skulls showing up in minidoll sets. I also love it when they find ways to reuse molds created for CMFs.
@myth: @mediAFOL meant 375-2. And I totally agree with them, it's a nice reference.
It’s time to start the music
It’s time to light the lights
Why you gotta remind me of Elves like that? Too soon! :')
Looks awesome though, super unique design!
That is gorgeous. Just gorgeous.
I am not going to pretend to know who the designer/s for Friends sets are.
They are doing an absolutely fantastic job.
The 375-2 yellow Castle being a theatre backdrop also was in one of the earlier Nexo Knights tv episodes where they did a play of what I assume was meant to be a long time past from what Knighton was (at least that's what I like to imagine, that LEGO themes and timelines are linked, or alternate universes), I like to imagine that Merlok is a future relative of Majisto, as well as the various emblems featured on the minifigs/bots and shields.
For being Andrea-centric, I expected more flame yellowish orange than teal, to be honest. But she looks beautiful in that coral dress.
As a former high school theatre kid, I think I just might make this the first Friends set I ever buy! (Not my first minidolls- I have a decent amount of Elves plus two Disney sets and some TLM2 hybrids - but still.) That facade is just shy of modular-level quality and I can modify the backstage area to be enclosed.

I imagine this set went a bit heavier on teal for accents due to teal having better contrast with the tan walls. But teal, flame yellowish orange, and magenta has been an iconic color scheme for Andrea since the "soft reboot" in 2018, and this set makes fairly liberal use of all three colors.
Omg I LOVE IT!!!
Always amazed me that they didn't produce a lego city theatre. Release of muppets just made the need more glaring.
Shame this is Friends rather than city but getting closer and should be easily adaptable. Would still love a city version though - or a modular!
Does Andrea's dress remind anyone else of Angelica Schuyler's costume in Hamilton? It might be just me - the intended vibe seems more fantasy than historical drama.

It's time to meet the Friends on the Heartlake Show tonight!
(I'm gonna catch a lot of flak for that...)
...and with that Lego Friends walks away with "theme of the year" for 2022.
That's it. I'm packing my stuff and moving to "Heart lake City". Built on the ruins of ancient "Paradisa", HLC is a wonderful place to live and retire, with variety of food options, nature, culture, and lots of things to do. So much colourful, nicer, and imaginative compared to the boring old "Lego City", which is full of break ins and fires anyway (more like "Gotham City" if you ask me). HLC also have better health care and shopping and recreational areas.
All we need is the "Friendship Train" going from LC to HLC to help us with the move.
This is simply superb. Gorgeous, playable and once again a better building than CITY puts out.
Holy…!!
Never knew a thing about this. This will be my third Friends set no question. It’s spectacular.
Also, study in human behaviour time. How many of us just downright love it, no gripes, because there are no expectations going in? There’s a life lesson there probably…well, certainly a LEGO lesson for me at least.
Will this be the first Friends set I get? I also noticed that the guy Minidolls are slightly taller— has this always been the case or is this a new change?
Best Friends set EVER!!!!! By miles and leagues and kilometers!!! I am also glad they decided to use various brick-built swappable scenery!!!
I love the proscenium decorations and the little opera glasses

There's actually not a height difference between male and female mini-dolls, I think the image of the figs here is just scaled a little weird. Male mini-dolls (adults at least) do have wider shoulders and larger noses.

Lego City may as well be rebranded to Lego Emergency Services at this point. The whole town is one of the most flammable, crime-ridden cities ever. It must be a disaster of local government, because Heartlake city, a short train ride away, is an idyllic paradise with a flourishing tourist industry, prosperous local businesses, and a hot spot for music, television, and science.
I have said it before, I will say it again... Friends is really putting Lego City to shame.
Friends has been knocking it out of the park this year!
I was already interested just based on the leaked picture of that interior, but that exterior is genuinely incredible. I am extremely temped to buy a few of these and build a modular theater.
If only the current City/train designers were as good as the team that designed this!

Literally was about to say this, can we borrow the Friends designers? sigh
Another reminder we shouldn’t overlook Friends for some great ‘City’ sets. I’ve bought the restaurant from a couple of years ago, and the food truck festival from this year, and this will be joining them once it’s released.
I really feel that this is the perfect playset for any kid.
Professor Adrian kind of reminds me of a young George Lucas, although he's more cinema than theater so I don't know if the look was intentional. Maybe all directors just pull off the beard look.
Looks like a very fun set. The whole architecture is nice and I especially like the backdrop designs.
Cool looking set, from what I can make out. …but would like to see some more internal shots.
Love the title "Assembly Theatre" (although that might preclude a modular of the same name?)

I doubt that name would've been used for a future modular since it's too similar to the earlier "Assembly Square". It works great for a set like this, though.
Other great wordcraft on this set includes the signage for "Builder's Place" and "Brickadilly Circus". Between that and the iconic cylindrical mailbox, this set has a far more London-esque flavor than previous Friends set—but for a set with this sort of subject matter it works pretty well!

Yes! And one guy has Hamilton's hairstyle!
