Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 8

Posted by ,

I think yesterday's recreation of the Knight Bus was great, so am looking forward to something equally impressive as we enter the second week of the Harry Potter Advent Calendar.

Find out whether that high standard continues after the break...

Harry's climactic casting of Expecto Patronum is among the most memorable moments from the entire Harry Potter series. While the boy wizard himself is absent, the scene is recognisable here by the Dementors alone. These are represented by black statuette pieces, like in 71043 Hogwarts Castle, which is effective.

The trees are obviously very simple, but look reasonable and include many potential attachment points for the Dementors. I like the transition between the forest floor and the lake as well, using 1x2 wedge plates to create an interesting shoreline shape.

Overall - Another iconic scene is faithfully represented on day eight, also offering some desirable parts.

This is nice!

Boy, the rest of the ACs keep showing how cheap and greedy Lego™ is. But, HP and SW are pulling me back in.

All these microscale builds are great for use with 71043 and 40289.

I haven't opened my Harry AC yet. Tell me there's a spare dementor. I need a Palpatine for a microbuild I'm making.

I had never noticed that those dementor pieces even existed. New parts for me!

I like that we've had a couple of scenes and not just things. I know the concept of this calendar wasn't popular but it's shaping up nicely

There isn't. Cheap Lego™ bastards!

I love this! Great little vignette and nice, rare pieces.

Nope. I threw one back in the cup, out of habit, but then noticed it takes both to finish the build. Naked trophy figs are much smaller, and I’ve seen them get extras, but I don’t know if I’ve ever built a set that used this style before.

@ohrmazd:
It’s been a few years, for sure. Emperor Palpatine or Darth Sidious was the first use, and I think the first use as a dementor was the microscale Hogwarts.

Not a huge fan of any of the advent calendars this year.

Out of what, exactly? Keep in mind it has to be in scale with a washcloth.

@PurpleDave:

You tellin' me TLG can't be bothered to make a new molded nano-sized stag just for this calendar?

Weak!

I really like the build btw ;-)

I’m not a big fan of hardy potter but have been loving the breakdowns and impressed with the creativity of the builds and what characters they have included. If this was Lord Of The Rings I would be losing my shit.

Another great entry! Definitely a unique AC but I welcome something different. So are we getting a busted-leg Ron, Time Turner Hermione, or nasty teeth Sirius tomorrow?
