Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 10

Posted by ,

Given the consistent pattern thus far, today we should receive our first microscale scene based upon The Goblet of Fire, presumably originating from early in the film.

As usual, there are many memorable scenes to choose from...

While different to the microscale models revealed already, the Goblet of Fire was an obligatory addition to this Advent Calendar. Its shape is greatly simplified in relation to the source material, but remains recognisable, while the reddish brown and dark brown colours are effective. A trans-light blue flame is also included, similar to the goblet from 75981 Harry Potter Advent Calendar, released in 2020.

However, far more impressive is the printed 1x2 tile beside the Goblet of Fire. Exclusive pieces like this are a common feature of LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendars and this scrap of paper, displaying Harry Potter's name, looks superb. I like its burnt edges and printing the design on a trans-clear tile works brilliantly.

Overall - The Goblet of Fire is nice, but the accompanying printed tile is the highlight today!

Unique printed tiles are always welcome

HP on its worst day still beats GG easily. The printed piece is very nice! How does HP get so many prints every year and SW gets bupkus? Does KKK need that SW profit margin for more Ferraris, or is it the dreaded mouse?

^ easy: the HP calendars are made by wizards, the SW ones by droids.
Although this year I do sense a change in the Force...

I have bad feeling about this...

As soon as the advent calendar gives me enough spare parts I’m finding a way to get that tile coming off the flame instead of just sitting to one side

@StyleCounselor:
SW focuses on holiday-themed minifigs, and often has complex depictions of vehicles from the films. HP focuses on rare outfits and exclusive printed tiles. The models are often simpler in design, use more common parts, and have on occasion been somewhat repetitive, which likely leaves more parts budget for special prints. One of the main drivers of this is subject matter. SW has dozens of spacecraft to choose from. HP has all of half a dozen iconic vehicles that I can recall, one of which I don’t believe has ever been produced in any official form (Hagrid’s motorcycle). Unless you want an entire HPAC that just adds components to a single large Hogwarts Castle model, you need to find other avenues to fill things out, or you’ll spend five days cooking a turkey.

You might be able to hang a corner on the second highest lobe of the flame.

I am really suprised more "paper items" are not printed on transparent tiles

Nobody told me Star Wars was funded by the KKK, 100% reconsidering my unconditional love of the series.

Only Episodes III, V, VIII and IX; you can still watch the others.

I tried hanging it on a couple of the flame prongs but none really looked right to me
