Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 11
Posted by CapnRex101,
Approaching the halfway point of 76404 Harry Potter Advent Calendar, I have been impressed with many of the microscale scenes revealed to date.
Our second microscale model from The Goblet of Fire can be expected next...
LEGO has revisited the Triwizard Cup on multiple occasions, taking differing approaches to this subject. The latest example prioritises its handles and I think they look reasonable, although the snake elements used for the trophy in 75981 Harry Potter Advent Calendar were much nearer to the onscreen cup. I also prefer the trans-light blue parts used before, rather than trans-clear.
Moreover, the scale of this model is strange, given the focus on tiny scenes for the previous three films, instead of oversized accessories. There are numerous memorable scenes from The Goblet of Fire to choose from, so I am disappointed that opportunity was not taken.
Overall - This is a reasonable recreation of the Triwizard Cup, but is overshadowed by a superior design from the 2020 Advent Calendar.

Yeah I was disappointed that we didn’t get, I dunno, a microscale Horntail or a bit of the graveyard, some sort of scene or set piece like the other days have had
I agree the previous model was much better. It's a shame we don't have the trans blue body.
75981 Harry Potter Advent Calendar was very good overall, especially the representation of the Triwizard Cup.
This is the fourth Triwizard Cup in five years - and easily the worst one. Each of the previous ones have captured some aspect of the cup, but this does nothing. There are tons of exciting minibuild options in GoF so this was a lame choice.
Very disappointing door. Just grey and dark brown... Not very festive at all, unlike 75981 !
For a moment I thought it was a rejected goblet of fire. It just looks like a goblet more than a cup.
Seems like all the calendars are running on empty this year.
Very hard to incorporate the third handle, it seems...
None of the renditions have achieved this feat, if I recall correctly.
Agree with everything Capn' said. Punk Zamboni wins the Day so far. What'ya got SW?
@johleth: Personally, I think the SW calendar has been excellent, except maybe for yesterday's.
@YanVanLan:
If the Ninjago tri-handle had a hole that went all the way through, this would actually be possible.
