Star Wars Advent Calendar - Day 16

Posted by ,

Impressive renditions of two opposing Original Trilogy starfighters have appeared over the last couple of days, so hopefully the quality remains equally good today.

Find out after the break...

The designer of this Advent Calendar, Hans Burkhard Schlömer, is well known for his aversion to weapons racks in these calendars. However, it seems a few minifigure-scale models are required annually, as something equivalent to a weapons rack often appears. This example is not bad, with a tiny Mouse Droid and accompanying mouse hole, alongside a stud shooter and its ammunition.

Overall - While not particularly exciting, this model takes an innovative approach to a time-tested format and I love the Mouse Droid.

Weapons rack!

Finally!

Well... it's a play feature, and you can have a second mouse droid with the spare parts, so that's pretty neat.

This looks less like a space station biome and more like it belongs in a castle.

This reminds me of the shooting range I had to go to last week, where we had to practice firing from behind a makeshift barrier. We didn't get an MSE droid, though. The bucket for spare cartridge storage is nice, though.

@Rob42:
Yeah, it’s been noted that, while the designer hates straight weapon racks, the minifigs still come with their normal weapons, and anything that seems like a weapon rack could just as easily be classified as an artillery piece. This one is a little different, but I’d call it a shooting game long before a weapon rack.

Hell of a lot better than the target game from last year! Well done. Definitely the weakest Day (and HP made up a lot of ground on SW today), but it’s a far better design and parts than the typical walls and racks from the past SW ACs

By in Netherlands,

I think the build is actually a target to shoot through.

Does the mouse droid fit through the hole?

Looks to me a bit like one of the shooting ranges you pass in a couple of the Imperial facilities in the Jedi Outcast or Jedi Academy video games. You stand at the window with the gun and shoot at holograms out on the range beyond.

If the mouse droid goes through the hole and out onto that shooting range, it might find itself becoming the target...

Looks like someone could bonk his head while going through this.

I rotated the gun rack 90 degrees clockwise so it's now on the inside wall. This format makes more sense if you want to put several of these together and make an Imperial shooting range. (For target practice, include all your past AC Battle Droids. The Empire might have made good use of those thousands and thousands of abandoned droids after the Clone Wars finished.)

In my mind this is part of a little Death Star (II) story arc, following the TIE and B-wing. It's actually supposed to be one of the Death Star's "interior windows" - looking down into a hangar, for example. The grey wall and black floor were subtle hints :)
But I guess it's also good for target practice ...

I have no idea what it's supposed to be, but it looks like a space ghost with a blaster and a bucket of blood.

And a Mouse Droid.

Or something.

I love how it’s a little shooting game, had quite a lot of fun with it before heading off to school this morning!

Isn't BS Adult Swim? What's going on here? Am I going to have to start censoring my cursing? But, I so love to say whatever the f-[remainder of post deleted by moderator "FINAL WARNING!"

I was completely baffled as to what this was! It's late so I'm off to bed. Goodnight all.

Yeah, I don't think it is a weapons rack, because all but two minifigs so far already came with a weapon. One is C3PO, who does not need a weapon. You can also bet this is not meant for Vader. Like his former master Obi Wan, Vader is not really into blasters. The mouse droid suggests the Death Star interior. Not a bad little shooting game.

Love that they include two mouse droids, and unlike most ppl I like these little touches

I designed a Calander on my facebook for a friends kid a while back
Best Advent Style Buzz Droid, & these Mouse Droids except I used ingots, e2 swoop speeder & Advent style STAP
Nailed it (except 1 Day he didnt realize what it was) included extra pieces every 7th day for Death Star Orniment

Commendable effort ... I can never have too many bley 1x4 bricks or black 2x4 plates. Thank you for a fun calendar so far!

@SD449:
Either part would fit on the stud inside the mouse hole if placed before the arch is added. The whole mouse droid is too tall and the upper edges of the tile would intersect with the arch, plus the stud is too tall for even the tile to fit through the assembled mouse hole. To actually drive through it, you’d need the mouse hole to be one plate taller and have a tiled floor.
