Harry Potter Advent Calendar - Day 18

Posted by ,

Following the appearance of Madam Rosmerta yesterday, The Three Broomsticks Inn is bound to become a focus over the next couple of days.

Let's open the door and make sure...

This table is pretty rudimentary and should have included a couple of chairs, especially given the example from the Friends Advent Calendar a few days ago. On the other hand, the dual-moulded Butterbeer glass looks great and the dark blue plate under the turkey leg is also notable, matching the colour of the plates at The Three Broomsticks in the movies.

Overall - The table is underwhelming, but includes a couple of useful accessories, at least.

Clearly, wizards are insufficiently civilised to use chairs, unlike Friends' pets.

It's gorgeous! Makes me wish LEGO would do a wider variety of "filled" drinkwear pieces.

Can the Trio from this calendar and their halfway legs even use chairs? The model is undeniably insubstantial but that might at least explain why no chairs

Wizards use Friends’ pets as chairs.

Ha! Liked your comment.

In reality, butterbeer isn't alchoholic. Although there is enough sugar and calories in it to make you instantly diabetic and give you a serious sugar rush.

I believe the non-alcoholic quality is canon. Yet, the scene in Half-blood Prince with Hermione and the boys coming back from buttering-up would certainly indicate that it gives you a certain 'enthusiasm' that I've always associated with alcohol.

In other news: Cap'n is again spot-on with the criticism. This needs some finishing. The butterbeer piece costs $0.65 on PaB. So, maybe the finishing was sacrificed for the inclusion of an expensive piece. Would've been great to get multiples.

Overall, I'm pleased with the way the builds and figs are creating a nice Hogsmeade filler pack.

Butterbeer is slightly alcoholic. Not enough to affect humans, but Winky the house elf gets plastered on butterbeer in Goblet of Fire.

The real stuff is sold to children in Florida.

I do remember that passage, now. Thanks.

So, does it affect elves differently, or is Hermione's 'enthusiasm' a result of inebriation?
