By in United States,

Optimus is a little awkward, but I think i need Bumblebee.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If I had a nickel for every time Lego butchered bumblebee VW beetle, I'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice

I also dont remember Optimus Prime having a beak...

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's no fun if you can't take it apart and build the vehicle from the parts and vice versa.

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

Still no play sets from Transformers? Come on...

Although I must say, these guys are very cute.

Optimus Prime is usually depicted with a peaked grey faceplate with a bit of taper at the bottom to imply a chin, so this is actually pretty accurate.

Given the fact that Brickheadz are 50% head, doing that would probably severely compromise the vehicle, robot, or likely both.

"I’m ok with robot Brickheadz but why do I have to pay double to get the far inferior vehicles?"
I think the Bumblebee car form captures the Brickheadz aesthetics pretty well, but yeah, the Optimus Prime truck form really seems like they had to take it too far to fit inside the allowed dimensions. Makes me wish we could get them singly.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Besides the fact that Optimus' Cab-mode is too tall (they should have made the grill 1x2 not 1x3); he has autobot symbols on his ears; that Bumble Bee's Beetle-mode has a glaring disconnect between the front windscreen and side windows; and the front bonnet isn't nearly curved enough; I can't abide TLG using the same tiles for the headlights that they did the eyes! It's like the truck and "bug" are creepy knock-offs or something.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Nice to see they’re covering all the core characters, and not just retreading the same ground.

@Worrissey said:

Well, he’s just hatched, hasn’t he? Give it a few days and the egg tooth will fall off of its own accord. By the time he’s an adult, you won’t be able to tell it was ever there.

honestly I think it's a pretty cute detail

By in Canada,

Optimus Prime truck makes me want this set

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Optimus' "Truck Mode" looks like he hit a wall 'face first' ("You got THE TOUCH...You got *WHACK*":D)

Bumblebee does look really 'accurate', considering his downsizing to fit this format...Also, although not a fan of Brick Headz, I will admit they look WAAAAAAAY better than Funko Pops.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice of hem to point out that the wheels can turn.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I am going to turn into a brickhead now

Gravatar
By in New Zealand,

I actually prefer these to the large scale Lego Transformer figures, which is weird because I'm not even normally a fan of BrickHeadz

Will definitely be getting these very cute robots in diguise

Gravatar
By in Malaysia,

Day 1 for me

Gravatar
By in France,

IMO the Brickheads format suits the theme well

Gravatar
By in Australia,

OMG the Optimus Prime truck is CUTE!

I can see myself building an appropriately short and cute trailer to go with it.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Budgie Prime

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like them both!

Gravatar
By in United States,

How about another transformer?

Gravatar
By in Germany,

40803 is worth it for the prints alone imho. Especially at the inevitable discount.

Yeah, I'd have to turn that muzzle(?) piece so it pointed upwards

I was going to say i cant unsee Parrot, but maybe Parakeet or Budgie. Bird definitely. Im not sure what the Vehicles are, they dont appear to be in any Brickheadz style but have the eyes. Bumblebee definitely better.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Isn't Optimums famously Dark Blue ?

Gravatar
By in Czechia,

watch as someone manages to make these transform

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I really like them, and it's nice that you can display them in both robot and vehicle form simultaneously. Finger's crossed that the range expands, would be interesting to see what they come up with for Starscream, Soundwave or even Grimlock.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Can't say I'm much of a Transformers nor a Brickheadz fan, yet I actually quite like these, especially Optimus.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

It was.... Week ago lmao

Gravatar

Oh, I am definitely picking these guys up.

My view as well.

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

If they can't transform, they failed.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Guys, note the arrows in the photographs!

The wheels ROLL!

10/10, super major innovative product, toy of the year.

Gravatar
By in United States,

The wheels actually turn! What a play feature! /s
(Yes, having any moving parts is unusual on a BH. But I still don't think it was worth calling out here.)

And we've come full circle, making a toy inspired by a comic/tv show inspired by a toy. It was probably said before when 10302 came out, but still relevant here. Second level licensing/derivative/parasitic marketing. (We've seen plenty of "the set based on the movie based on video game" - Mario, Sonic, Minecraft. But a multiple media crossover loop like this is still uncommon.) Now if you'll excuse me, there's a cloud outside that needs yelling at.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Oh, so they don't transform. I was hoping they would when I saw them in the leaks :.(

I like Brickheadz, Optimus looks alright I guess, but I never really cared for this franchise anyway.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Is this the first time that the "eyes" tiles have been printed on transparent blue?

Gravatar
By in France,

Ugly as usual...

Gravatar
By in Hungary,

Can you build the vehicle, and the robot the same time?

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Yooha said:

yes. it doesn't transform - it's two separate models per set.

There were printed square trans-light blue "eye parts" in the Iron Man Brickheadz 40699 and 41604, but no round printed trans blue before on any of the Brickheadz.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

A shame they cannot transform, but B looks adorable.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@brick_r:
Compared to the G1 Bumblebee, this one is pretty accurate.

@8lackmagic:
You can display any Transformer in both robot and alt modes at the same time. You just have to buy two of them (which I actually did for Masterpiece Skywarp).

At last!! I've only been 60 years trying to work out how to work those weird new Lego inventions 314-2

Gravatar
By in Turkey,

I liked them, they look cute. I may even get the Optimus Prime.

Gravatar
By in United States,

I do not normally like Brickheadz, but it is nice to be able to afford Optimus.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I like these, and will get them. The good thing with BrickHeadz is that I like some and have no interest in others, so no FOMO effect! I have about 50% of releases.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Both look cute!

Wheels that roll? Incredible.
What will they come up with next?

Gravatar
By in United States,

Why does Bumblebee look so cute. As a casual Transformers fan d these do appeal to me, being probably the 2 most well known Transformers. Though I do think some Decepticon brickheadz would work better though.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Are the arrows to indicate the unusual feature that the wheels turn?

Gravatar
By in United States,

These don't do it for me, but I do love that we're seeing more Transformers/Lego crossover. More please! Really hoping the rumored Soundwave is true...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I'm still not a big fan of Brickheadz, but this one is a must. It looks good for the proportion and fun.

I mean, I do really want them to do _something_ with Soundwave (I have both MP Soundwave and MP Soundblaster, plus as many of the MP casettes as I've been able to track down, along with as many other versions of Soundwave I've run across), but my very first Transformer was the G1 Bumblebee. I can skip Optimus any day of the week (I'm currently waffling over getting the Target Optimus, but all I really want from it is the Bullseye Ravage), but I will have to buy this Bumblebee. Might still buy the big one.

To clarify, I meant Soundwave as a big model, not as a Brickheadz.

My first Transformer was Bumblebee's upgraded form, Goldbug (https://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Goldbugg1toy.jpg), so he's long been my favorite Transformer. (The fact that I've always liked VW beetles is also part of it.) I ordered 10338 Day One, but still haven't gotten around to clearing some space and building it.

"I'm guessing the main reason we haven't gotten a G1 Megatron yet is because his transformation was, let's say, cause for concern.

And it's our fault, or specifically, yours. You, the person frothing at the mouth at the idea of TLG producing a toy gun. You know who you are. You, who live for the moment where you can voice your indignation about Lego's staunch refusal to satisfy your need for realistic modern military theatre in brick-format.

Oh, how you disgust me. The disgust that courses through me, it gives me energy. You could BOTTLE it. I have to get up early in the day so I can get a proper start, being disgusted by you. I'd compare it to a job, but if we're honest, by now it's more of an addiction.

I WISH I COULD QUIT YOU."

Sounds like you're trying to make up for the lack of Megatron with your own;) I fully agree though

The car form may look better, but that robot form? Woof. And Goldbug? I was expecting to see what turned out to be the first G2 Bumblebee, which was the G1 design in gold chrome. I’m pretty sure I’ve seen gold-colored versions in recent years that had the Goldbug name attached.

They apparently lost the trademark at some point, because the toy released in the "Thrilling Thirty" line was called "Goldfire." https://tfwiki.net/wiki/File:Generationstoy-Goldfire.jpg

Or they realized they never had a solid claim on it. Richard Scarry books had been using a character named Goldbug since 1963.
