Impressive. Most impressive.
I don't collect Ninjago and yet somehow I think I've bought more of it than any other theme recently, the sets have been full of great designs, cool colours and new parts, best sets of any theme for a long time
Crikey! Another one for my Want list!!!
One of those minifigures literally has a Galidor t-shirt
I'm in love
This is so lit! Especially since it's something I thought LEGO would never do (wild Hong Kong-style jumble of shops). Can't wait to put it in my modular city!
I need this.
WOW! Must purchase!
I'm guessing we'll get a press release today or tomorrow?
It seems to be fully closed on the back.
WOW!!! Too bad this outstrips my budget. :(
OMG! What a beauty!! A must-have at day one. And multiples later on. ;) 4867 pcs, I`m in love!
I `ve never got tears in mye eyes from a ninjago set before, but I did from this..:)
WELL DONE LEGO! So many impressive details and buildingtechniques
16(!) minifigs + a bbrobot
alot of stickers tho (:()
Boat does not float. Ruins the fun of the set, then.
.... Just kidding, I absolutely love the look of this! Can't wait to see more pics.
TLG really want to test me, not bought so much this year yet as I've been saving for a holiday, but gosh there have been some amazing sets released that I really really want!
Interesting that LEGO made this one bigger than their 10th Anniversary Modular Assembly.. really interesting..
I see LOTS of unorthodox design elements.
-1x1 round tiles in the hollow part of a clear 1x2x5 brick
-two 1x4 bow window pieces just sitting in the 1x3 bow pieces, only held in place by some angular plates
And a bunch of others
WOW!
LEGO seems to be cranking out mega sized sets like there's no tomorrow!
Let's hope the trend continues with a new UCS Millenium Falcon! :)
Incredibly amazing. As a modular collector... I really want this.
And I love the references to other Lego themes! I see Galidor, Xtreme Team (edit: or Xtreme Island Stunts)... Well done designers.
This is amazing! The parts choice is great!, particularly the green paint pallet as Lilly pads, and the crow bars for the awning
This looks fantastic, absolutely beautiful, really hoping that it's not outrageously expensive in the U.K.
When you thought the NINJAGO movie line couldn't get any better...
OMG, I NEED this!
Looks great, but I do not think I can drop that kind of money on it.
Drooling… Impressive, most impressive indeed, this could fit right into a small Japanese district in a City (sadly my space has run out as I already have it compromised and the mortal I'm saving is to buy a house).
Holy mother of... I need this, and I don't even care for Ninjago Movie.
I am not a Ninjago collector. I am not a Ninjago collector. I am not a Ninjago collector. Do you think if I tell that to myself it'll stop me from buying it? 'Cause I don't have the money for that. Carrousel and anniversary modular still on my list. London bus coming soon. LEGO please stop!
This is amazing.
And yet, all I can think is that in Australia, you'll have to mortgage your house to afford it :(.
Is the comic book store guy wearing a Galidor shirt?! That's amazing!
Wow!
OMG.
Gonna need a lottery win for this.
Wow! Just wow! Totally gobsmacked! Must have!
(This is SOOOO going to be modded to a corner modular...)
And: wow!
There's clear-cut references to both LEGO Racers and Island Xtreme Stunts in there too
somebody pinch me
Looks wonderful - Ninjago continues to surprise and delight.
To Zordboy:
I understand that LEGO in retail shops in AUS is extemely expensive, I just dont understand why you cant wait cca 3-4 months after its fully on European or US ebay market and buy it from there? Surely it must be less expensive incl. the shipping to AUS than to buy it directly in store over there..
Does it connect to the Modular buildings?
O. M. G. That's a modular building on steroids!
Astonishing! simply astonishing!
Fascinating. Lego is really getting into massive sets more and more. I think a new UCS MF is more than likely under this regime.
I am a huge fan of Asian architecture, and this will definitely find a place here - as soon as I have somehow found a way to break the news to my wife that we need this ;-)
Also, is that a dark bluish grey 32x32 baseplate or a dark tan 32x32 baseplate? And would either be a first? Can't remember any set with a 32x32 baseplate in those colours yet.
Never really been a fan of the Ninjago theme, but this will be a must-have to go with the Modular city! Truly amazing amount of detail and creativity. LOVE it!
That is impressive!
A lot of great techniques. Who would've thought that you can make an awning out of 19 crowbars?
I'm not a modular building collector so this might look a little lonely without other buildings next to it, but I really love the japanese style and parts. Probably not a first day buy for me, but maybe someday.
I think this looks amazing. I do t uaually go for builds outside of Marvel or Creator but I will have to have this. Saving at the mo to get the Airjitsu temple as that looks so good
What color is the baseplate? It looks like a large quantity of trans blue tiles creating that water effect!
Yes it connects to modular buildings! Lego must have know that we would be thinking this.
I'm getting a Big Hero 6 vibe from it ;)
Two things I noticed......
1) where are the ninja?
2) are all the mini-figures exclusive?
I'm so excited about this set and cam't wait to get it!
Holy McMoley! That keeps the eyes busy for awhile doesn't it? I just stared at that image for 15 min.'s, and I'm going to go back and stare some more. Who needs to be productive at work? The only thing is I'm having trouble figuring out where the ideal setting in my city would be for this. Nearby the Old Fishing Store... with the giant Destiny's Bounty just off the shore... Well, maybe my kids won't even want to go to college, so no sense in a college savings fund then, right? Or off to the bank to take out a 3rd mortgage? Hmm... decisions, decisions.
Some of the comments suggest that this will in fact connect to the Modular buildings. Is that true? I can't find any photos to prove that. There doesn't seem to be any photos of the sides of the building. Can anyone verify this will fit into the Modular line?
Holy gosh!so many old parts in new colors!especially the pink and white leaves!deeply love it!
"We believe it'll cost $300."
Where are you getting that number from? It seems insanely optimistic. When you consider the Death Star has 800 fewer pieces and costs $500, I can't see how this set would be $200 cheaper being a significantly larger set.
Not a fan of Ninjago, but this looks awesome
It looks incredible and many of the minifigs appeal and I've often thought it'd be nice to see some Ninjago City sets... that said I'm not sure I can justify spending that sort of money for it - especially as I've nowhere to put it. It's going to be a stretch finding somewhere to put the Airijitzu Monastery when I finally get that.
Oh well, maybe I can get some of the Minifigs on Bricklink ^^
Oh my God. I don't own any Ninjago sets (I'm a big City collector and a bit of classic Star Wars), but this is beautiful. I would love to have this in my city. Damn, I don't know if I have enough money for this.
@curtydc don't forget the licensing cost associated with SW
I don't care for most of the redesigns in the Movie or what appears to be the total rebooting of Ninjago, but that is one beautiful set.
Up on shop.lego.com. September 1 release.
Prices:
USD - 299.99
GBP - 259.99
NZ - 599.99 (sorry)
Germany 299.99
@WoosterLegos Check the photos on the detail page. One clearly shows technic pins and holes.
I too noticed that all of the ninja aren't present, but I'd rather have exclusive civilians than otherwise easily-available ninja taking up minifig slots in this set.
I was thinking about buying Assembly Square as my Christmas present to myself but if this really is just $20 more than that I'll have some serious decision-making to do... I really love the hodge-podge pan-Asian architecture, and it could easily be modded/extended to make a super cool cyberpunk cityscape.
So this is how you're getting me into modulars?
Well played, TLG.
That is a very brave minifig to were a Galador shirt
The NPU is off the charts in this set!!
- Bonsai tree a green version of Sabine Wren's hairpiece
- Train Chassis built into the lower level
I guess it's cool, but happily I can live even without it. :)
Amazing! LEGO please stop releasing amazing sets for this year! Spread them out, otherwise we'll all be bankrupt!
@LegoSolo77..Yes agree the longer you look at the pictures the more hidden features you find. It's a picture search for AFOL's. Lego's designers have done it again with the modulars. Some of these unique ones can fit into your city or standalone. This one, Ghostbusters HQ and Ninjago Temple of Airjitzu are excellent value for the design work and parts. What's even better with these is they stimulate more new ideas, ways of using parts and extending upon what has already been designed. I can't wait to see the designers video presentation. EXCELLENT SET !!!
Damn!!!!
That's amazing. The amount of new pieces or older pieces redone in different ways is stunning! I LOVE the new railing pieces.
This is just... INCREDIBLE! I want this so badly! Aww...
And yes! Finally mother doomsday!
@Cappuchinman - So true. I was saving for a couple Fishing Stores and then they come out with this. Just when you think they can't come up with something you will like. Bamm - gotta have it! No matter the age we're all kids at heart.
@Broken Cheese Slope @woosterlegos Yes, it should connect with the modular buildings. If you look at the shots of the back of the lowest level, there are Technic holes that are positioned where they would be on a Creator modular.
Looks like some of the most creative buildings techniques are to be found in the Ninjago theme these days. I don't watch the show, but each successive wave becomes more and more tempting. Already got the Temple of Airjitzu and Ultra Stealth Raider last year. This and the Destiny's Bounty look amazing, and may be among my top ten favorite sets this year. I already want this more than the Saturn V!
Full with references from the tv-series! Ronan on a poster and mother doomsday to name a few!
Aaaaaaaaahhhhh!! So Awesome!!! Why does Lego keep coming out with fantastic sets that I can't afford!!!!!
Plus it comes with Spinjitzu cards...
I love the Mother Doomsday figure! Have to Bricklink him if I don't get the set. In fact, all the references to the TV show are on point!
Full marks, Lego! Well done!
It's not often nowadays that a set makes me go Wow but..... Wait for it..... WOW!!!
Not that I can ever justify buying it as I don't collect Ninjago but that is spectacular, love all the little details.
This set looks amazing. The Ninjago theme gets more and more interesting with each new set that is released.
One word: WOW.
I want it, but I will never have it. :(
Lots of details but the overall impression seems to be a bit of a mess. (I'm not a Ninjago fat so maybe I just don't "get" it). At that price, I will probably pass.
Impressive, but rather ugly...
Super cool, love that it connects to modulars, and I see some Battlefronts jump packs on the center of the railing.
there are some more detailed pictures in this youtube video:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Rhb3JMaeLI
(hope its not a violation of some rules to put the link here)
Seriously want to build a complete city in this style of build, it's amazing.
All of the Ninjago Movie sets are a real step up in creativity for Lego.
Best. Set. Ever.
Is this the highest Lego modular (or minifig-scale) building to date? I think it is.
Did you notice that Officer Noonan has the same badge as Bad Cop and the other police from The Lego Movie? Do we know if there is any connection between that movie and this one?
There are A LOT of references in this set.
One of the banners from the second floor actually has an Xtreme Sports Logo.
The poster featuring Ronin has a split mountain in the back, referencing the first season of Exo Force.
When I first started collecting, I used to think Ninjago was the biggest pile of BS imaginable. But seriously for me its now only second to Stars Wars - did not see that coming. Another awesome set:)
Hey, this looks sweet! Looks like Claire from the Temple of Airjitzu is back.
Wowza - AFOLs have been clamoring for more large detailed sets in various themes, and it seems like LEGO has really stepped them up this year! Between this, all the other TLNM sets coming out (Destiny's Bounty), the Carousel, and the Old Fishing Shop, I'm just swamp-goggled! Gonna have to make some hard budget decisions... (they turned off the electricity? maybe LEGO looks better by candlelight anyway...)
Holy cow! That looks incredible.
Goodness. I usually buy one large set in a theme I usually don't get every year. I think this might be this year's selection.
Woooooooow! Lego pushed his designers to the top. Love the mix between traditional asiatic and modern style.
Very interesting. Not sure this better than Temple of Airjitzu, but it's cool. Anyone notice the Shadow of Ronin poster? I'm sure this thing is crammed with Ninjago references that only long term fans will recognize. Mother Doomsday fig, along with Sally, Noonan, the latest incarnation of Misako, and Ivy Walker (maybe Jay's sister?) are all cool. I think I'm buying this.
Sweet !!! Need more like this from The Lego Movie and Batman.
The price seems too good to be true. 4800+ pieces for only $300??
I used to collect Ninjago sets but I stopped because I lost interest. But this set and the Temple of Airjitzu would look great on display.
With those piled up streets and shops, it reminds me of Blade Runner / Fifth Element.
Wow! I would have been disappointed that this set wasn't a major vehicle for either Garmadon or the ninjas, but it is too awesome for me to complain!
Where is misako? I can't see an old lady!
61 pictures. I can only see 33!
^^ @Brick_Knight - I read somewhere that the girl with the orange hair and green sweatshirt / jacket is Misako... but that person is 1. not old 2. looks literally exactly the same as Claire from the Temple of Airjitzu.
^yea! Just what I thought! Looks like Claire. In that case I don't think Misako is Lloyd's mother cause she looks to be same age as Lloyd!
This looks awesome. A bit wacky, lots of features and angles, great colour combinations. Looking forward to Sept :)
Love it. Some people think it's messy, but I think the messiness enhances the set. It's like the City of Ninjago continued building above the old structures instead of destroying and replacing them. I like that it's a maze of structures and how you just wish you were a minifigure in this set to explore what's behind every corner.
^ agreed!
Is it known who the designer is or can be assumed to be?
That is stunning. Just stunning.
Also, those green painting pallets as lilly pads...
Huge sets like this and Destiny's Bounty make it seem like Lego is investing a lot more in the Ninjago Movie sets than in the Batman Movie or Lego Movie sets. I added up the prices and piece counts for the lines of the three movies, and the result was slightly surprising. If you leave out Ninjago City and Destiny's Bounty, the Ninjago Movie line is actually much smaller and less expensive than the other two lines, assuming you buy one of each regular retail set, one box of Collectible Minifigures, and skip the polybags. When you include Ninjago City and Destiny's Bounty, the Ninjago Movie line costs only about a hundred dollars more than the other movie lines.
Well done. Best set ever (trollllolol)?
I'm holding my breath and money till September... Wish me luck
Wait a minute... Where are the other ninjas and their hairpieces?
Wow One Great set Why is lego's exchange rate to NZ so different to others
ie Lego $299US=$599NZ
Conversion $299US=$413NZ
But I'd love to buy it
Yesterday I bought the ferris wheel and the carousel, and today I see this. I almost cried. This is amazing! I love the details, and it's huge. It will make a great Chinatown. Thank you Lego, for killing my bankaccount.
This looks so awesome. I don't usually go for this theme, but there are so many epic things in this set i might have to get it at some point
So uh anybody want to help me raise $300 by September 1st? Its for a friend.
I'm curious why there is a giant floating pig in the background on the left. Maybe Pink Floyd are doing a show nearby.
also @Kostur and others: the other ninjas are there, you just can't see them. They are ninjas after all...
That's a good US value, right? $300 for almost 5000 pieces? Either way, a really cool set, and I really don't care about Ninjago.
Scarf.
@kostur we get one set with all the ninjas with masks and one set with all the ninjas with hair. I don't want to get too many duplicate minifigures. But actually the ninjas with civilian outfits would be very cool.
Not only do we finally get a set with Comic Book guy but he's also giving Galidor the love it (doesn't really) deserve. Combine that with Jay's jet coming with Ed and Edna and fans of the TV shows dreams are coming true!
Oh my gosh- this set is incredible! It is definetly a hodge podge, but in a good way! The minifigures are great, as most of them are exclusive, the build is great, as it is unique, and the price is great as you get nearly 5000 pieces for just $300. I'll probably get it, but first I need to get caught up on the regular Creator modular buildings, get the Disney Castle, and possibly get the Temple Of Airjitzu before I can this big one.
@Huw. Question. The set details page says "More Images 61" yet I can only see 33. If there are more images why can't I see them?
Since there are a lot of cool references in this set, I'd like to view as many pictures of the details as possible.
Anyone else take note of the recommended age? 16+ for a Ninjago Movie set...hahahaha...they definitely know that the AFOL market is alive and well.
Seems more appropriate for a kids demographic rather than a 16+. Looks too messy and uncoordinated.
Stared at the roof pic for a long time trying to figure out what parts made up the slope.
I think it is made of car doors, I have never seen that done before.
I hope they used an equal number of left and right.
I really want this set!!!!
But I don't have the money let alone the space ;)
As a huge Ninjago fan, I'm happy to see the Design Team put references from everything that is Ninjago, showing that they really care!!
Again, props to you LEGO!!!!
Wow! Not just the set, which is pretty good, but mostly "wow" to the NZ price which is pretty bleedin' atrocious!!! Only an entire 33% more than the UK price, and 45% more than the US price. Such a bargain. And another incentive to start buying the Chinese knock-offs.
This, the temple of airjitsu, and the palace cinema will be my china town!
This looks incredible! I can't believe the inclusion of the Island Xtreme Stunts and Rocket Racer logos!
It immediately reminds me of a part of the videogame Deus Ex: Human Revolution that takes place in a cyberpunk Chinese city in 2027. The city was so densely developed that a second layer was built on a platform above it. To me the "hodgepodge" look is perfect, and recreates the feeling of trying to navigate that level for the first time.
It may link to the official modulars with Technic bricks and pins, but instead of pavements and roads, it seems to be surrounded by water. The new Ideas Fishing Store looks to be another 32x32 stud set, but set by a beach. Some imaginative back-story will be required to combine them all.
I want them all!
All those minifigs! Plus the maniquines in the windows!!
A great and awesome set that perfectly fits in the "Modular Building" concept. Among with Palace Cinema you can build an Asian Neighborhood into your Lego city.
The design...the little hidden elements and details...the comic store...the sushi bar...the PRICE (for 5k parts)...and 16 minifigs to boot for $300 bucks! Must get.
It's another great official kit built like a MOC. Love it.
@Zordboy (and other Aussies): This set is on the Lego website at AUD 499 for release on 1st September. I expect that will be recommended retail at other stores as well. Perhaps there will be another Triple VIP points promotion or Myer will sell them at a 20% off sale. Both things happened this year, when I decided to buy Assembly Square, although it was hard to find at Myer. Don't expect this set to be available at online retailers before 2019, though. My suggestion: go with what Homer Simpson said. "I'll make the money by selling one of my livers. I can get by with one."
Yeah will wait for local 20% off sale here in Australia.
Ive got a trip to the US in November, depending on exchange rate and local pricing might pick up then and get the VIP.
It's a marvel! Impressive, huge, beautiful. Like with Temple Of Airjitzu, it doesn't even matter to me that I don't collect the theme and know nothing about TV shows. It just speaks for itself and doesn't need any background story - like the best of modulars. Great job.
OMG! i already had to choose between the Apollo rocket and the Snowspeeder and now they release this..... my kids will be eating bread and cheese for 3 months!
I'm not interested in Ninjago but there is no way I'm missing out on having this! What a beautiful model! This thing is going to be so fun to build since I've never made a modular building.
Ugh. Just realized this and Fishing Store come out the same day.
I'm loving the fan service on this one.
Geez, I still have the Assembly Square and the Hellicarrier on my wish list, and now they're releasing this? Not a fan of Ninjago, but I'll definately buy this.
Sometimes I wonder whether Lego is trying its best to get our money. Oh, wait...
That Galidor tee for the comic shop owner! Can't stop chuckling - love all the little touches.
News Flash!!! This set is currently SOLD OUT!!!! Lego underestimated the popularity of this set, just like they did with the Saturn V set, and it's now impossible to get!!
Seriously hope that doesn't happen. I'll probably pick this set up, but Lego is making it hard to save money...
It looks pretty awesome! To be honest though I actually prefer the more elegant Temple of Airjitzu.
That's just amazing.
This is jaw-dropping. I have absolutely no familiarity with or interest in the Ninjago theme, and still this is one of the greatest sets I've ever seen.
Wouldn't it be awesome if one of the interchangeable posters was a poster for "The Super Crunchy Ninja Skateboard Party Movie with Pratfalls/Physical Comedy and Cute Furry Animals for the International Audience"?
I need this in my life!
Anyone else notice what seems to be a new hair mold on the pink shirt/sunglasses guy?
^ na that's an old mold.
Like many, not done much with Ninjago, but this is amazing...damn.
So many details you can get lost in. Brilliant!!
This set is a true masterpiece. The level of detail put into this is beyond words. I love how recently Lego seems to be letting their designers just go absolutely bananas, which is how it should be.
And is it just me, or does Misako (or Mistako, as I refer to her as) look a lot like the Claire minifigure from 70751 Temple Of Airjitzu, just with a new hairpiece?
Also, where's Dareth? We have yet to see the cinematic version of him, and I would have thought a set such as this would have included him, with its large selection of minifigs.
Lots of details, lots of small pieces that made up of the details, and it doesn't feel big enough for a 4k+ set. That's the trend anyway.
Regarding the design I do feel that it's a little too busy, but still very colorful and attractive. Nice work!
No new cat in the hole Ninjago movie theme MAYBE they'll be one in garmadon garmadon GARMADON. But it's unlikely, still it's a great set
I LOVE it, but with all these good sets coming out this year my wallet says otherwise.
My son is now into Nexo Knights and my daughter into Lego Friends. I'm tempted to get it for the sheer delight of owning it. It would make a great meeting ground.
Wow. I have never owned a Ninjago set before, but as a fan of 2K+ sets, this is on the top of my list! It even looks as though it might even connect to all of my modular buildings, which would be pretty sweet!
future acquisition au cote de mes models avancés en guise de petit quartier asiatique
Do I want it? Yes
Can I afford it? No
Can I do without food? Possibly.
Possibly the best looking LEGO set I've ever seen.
