Here's the press release for the 36th LEGO Ideas set that was teased on Saturday:

21328 Seinfeld, 1326 pieces, rated 18+
€79.99 / $79.99 / £69.99 / AU$129.99 / CA$109.99
Available to VIPs from 21st July at LEGO.com

Fans of classic 90s sitcom Seinfeld can now recreate some of the most iconic scenes from the series with the new LEGO Ideas Seinfeld set from the LEGO Group. Featuring Jerry Seinfeld’s apartment, a buildable stage for the stand-up comic and a Festivus pole the set inspires builders to relive the most classic moments from the series.

The highly anticipated set was created by LEGO fan Brent Waller, from Brisbane, Australia, via his submission on the LEGO Ideas platform, a LEGO initiative that takes new ideas that have been imagined and voted for by fans and turns them into reality.

So, whether you want to re-enact the Story of Festivus, the Wallet Scene or the Fix Up, the set’s intricate props and features transport you directly back to New York in the 90s, enabling you to create your very own Show About Nothing in brick form.

LEGO fan designer, Brent, who is the co-founder of a video games company, loved LEGO as a kid but was re-introduced to it as an adult and combined with his skill as a 3D artist he set about designing his own LEGO creations - including creating the Seinfeld set. Talking about the design, Brent said, “I loved Seinfeld in the 90s and recently re-watched them all. I thought it was a travesty that a LEGO Seinfeld set didn’t exist, so I made an effort to resolve that and make the best rendition of Jerry's apartment and the gang that I could. The biggest challenge was trying to cram as much detail from the show into the kitchen, all the cupboards, items in the cupboard and on the bench-tops. But I am very proud of how it turned out.”

Some of the instantly recognisable features include: the kitchen with buildable counter, fridge, microwave, oven and more; living room with a sofa; tables; an office; a buildable stage for stand-up comedian Jerry and a Festivus pole, collectively inspiring memories of comical moments from the show’s 180 episodes!

The set features 5 minifigures inspired by the iconic main characters and one notable postal worker from the show; Jerry Seinfeld, George Costanza, Cosmo Kramer, Elaine Benes and Newman are all included decked out in iconic 90s outfits.

Federico Begher, VP of Global Marketing at The LEGO Group commented, “The LEGO Ideas platform is a great way for fans to share their ideas with us and their passion for a particular theme. Not only did Brent have a personal desire to create this build, other fans agree, and he gained the necessary 10,000 community votes needed for us to consider creating it into a product.

"Seinfeld is a classic sitcom and a cultural icon that was huge in the 90s and still stands the test of time today. The combination of the quirky characters and the nostalgia of the show is the perfect fit for LEGO and when we saw the concept we just knew we had to make it. I am so excited to see how this has been brought this to life in LEGO form and the attention to detail from the furniture to some of the minifigures accessories.”

I just want to see the stranger things tease come to something

Gravatar
By in United States,

Looks really good! Not really a fan of Seinfeld but hopefully the people that buy it love it!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Looks good…
I just aren’t really interested, the show was always on in the UK whilst I was growing up, I just never got into it.
I’m sure it’ll do well in USA and other places with a big fan base.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

This just looks like the first Friends set but white. Should be cool for big fans of the show, but to me it looks rather bland.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Nice to see the stand-up brick wall included!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

It seems like there's a new set reveal every five minutes. Kinda looses its impact.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

As someone that's never watched a single ounce of Seinfeld that uh, """Festivus pole""" sure is raising a lotta questions in my mind...!

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Ive never had any interest in these sitcom room sets, but damn that is a good price. More of that please.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

That's a very good price. I love the show and will definitely get one. Congrats to the original designer Brent, so cool to see this kind of success for a fellow person from Brisbane.

Just not sure about Jerry's hair. Is that a mullet?

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Any idea when the Ideas Van Gogh set will be released?

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

Looks similar to the F.R.I.E.N.D.S. set but that's not surprising, both can be built and displayed side by side as recording studios in the area.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Ggggggggggiddy-up! Feels like I've been waiting forever for this reveal! I love the photo of Larry David on the fridge.

My only very minor complaint, and its easily rectified, is I would have thought they'd maybe use the medium length legs for George, Elaine, and Newman, to more accurately reflect their relative heights respective to Jerry and Kramer. But, all three colours are readily available so it should be an easy swap.

Gravatar
By in Italy,

I don't know anything about Seinfeld, never watch it, but I like this set
Maybe I will get one

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not a huge fan of the set, but that $79.99 price tag is pretty generous

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

This is my dream set, and I'm so happy it's finally been made! I rewatch «Seinfeld» continuously, so this is great. I will have to make that sofa blue like it's supposed to be and make the bike more prominent, but being able to modify is part of the fun of LEGO. I usually wait for a discount, but this is a contest I'll lose day one!

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Beautiful set, can't wait to get it and build it. I never watched Seinfeld in the 90s, but I decided to watch the whole series a couple of years ago and it's a really good and funny show with unique characters. This lego set is perfect in terms of being a show's room replica, but also as a general "real life" apartment. But I do realize this sitcom doesn't have as big appeal as Friends, so i wonder how heavily it will get discounted in the future...

Gravatar
By in United States,

I love it. Wish the cereal boxes had at least sticker details, but they're there. Love Superman on the fridge, too. The price is great!

Gravatar
By in United States,

The price is perfect, the minifigs are wonderful, the references are gold and the stand-up backdrop is a great addition.
Only thing I'm a little disappointed by is that Newman seems to be the only one with a double-sided head and that George doesn't have a neutral or smug expression to go with his gettin' mad face. I realize with his hairpiece that it'd require a completely different head for the job, but he could really use some serenity, now.

Gravatar
By in Sweden,

Lovely to see another minifig set that's entirely focused on the interior. Lots of interesting wall angles too.

Gravatar
By in Australia,

Ahhhhhh I love it! I had a giggle when I saw the pic of the air conditioning unit hanging out the window. So many good references to the show!

You could put a matching 1 x 2 plate on top of Kramer's hips/legs to make him just a bit taller than the others. Just a thought.

Umm... No, minifigure legs have studs that are longer than regular studs.

Gravatar
By in United States,

This set looks cool, but it's a definite skip from me since I've never seen an episode of Seinfeld. It also feels less unique coming just two months after the Friends Apartments since it's got that same studio light style even though it's a different design. I can see why LEGO would pass on Community and The Office even if licensing wasn't an issue - I feel like these living room sitcom sets are becoming a bit much, but again that's probably because we just got one of them in May.

Gravatar
By in Poland,

Woah, this set looks so boring.
Friends set was filled with cool builds, here its all basic stuff...

For the reason mentioned above, one could add two 1 x 1 plates under the feet.

By in Canada,

I can't wait for this. I always found Seinfeld to be much more funny and entertaining than Friends, so I was very pleased when the show was chosen to become an Ideas set.

I'm not sure how much of a nook the computer area is supposed to be, though. It seems much to closed off compared to the show, where it seems to be closer in-line with the main wall.

However, this is still a day one purchase for me!

By in Switzerland,

Some episodes referenced:

S3E4 «The Dog» - «Prognosis Negative»
S3E6 «The Parking Garage» - Elaine's fish
S5E3 «The Glasses» - Air conditioner
S5E21 «The Opposite» - Coffee Table Book
S6E21 «The Fusilli Jerry» - Fusilli Jerry
S7E6 «The Soup Nazi» - Schmoopie's phone number
S7E11 «The Rye» - Bread (Marble Rye) and fishing pole
S8E5 «The Package» - Photo of George
S9E10 «The Strike» - Festivus Pole

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

If any UK Lego fans are curious about Seinfeld, it's currently streaming on All4 for free (with ads).

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Nice! A festivus for the rest of us.
Reading the comments, 'the airing of grievances' has already commenced.
Seinfeld was/is still Epic!
Now I fancy a SoupNazi Seinfeld Lego set, Yankee Stadium, and a Monk's Café too, etc. etc. Mostly, I guess, I would like to see the all main characters from that show have their own Minifigs.
And a Larry David minifig too!

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Its a set about nothing, bada bing!! I'm here all day...

Gravatar
By in Canada,

i appreciate theyre sticking with the idea that these sets are actual, well, sets, you can see the lighting fixtures and such, you could even pretend this and the friends sets are part of the same studio setup. not to my taste, but well done regardless.

Gravatar
By in Puerto Rico,

I was really hyped for this set when it was announced, but I'm disappointed by a lot of the design choices they made.

- Why is the couch green when it's clearly blue in the show?

- Why is there a giant gap in-between the cupboards?

- And why is Jerry's face so... ugly?

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

@Ladendorf I agree on all counts. Luckily the first two are fixable, while Jerry's face I'll just have to come to accept. I thought the Ideas concept was better for all the figs, and it didn't have the couch or cupboard issues either. Central Perk was so much better than the submission, while this is a slight step back. Still a day one purchase, though!

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Lego is once again one step closer to licensing every IP under the sun.
Also, Lego is wasting no time in giving product reveals this week. I wonder how many more 'special' reveals we-ll get next week. And the week after that. And the week after that. etc.

That said, I'm happy if people are fans of Seinfeld and are now able to buy a dedicated lego set.

But ehm... the 'set' design is just less vibrant and interesting-looking than the Friends sets (the licensed ones, not the minidoll ones) IMHO. At least as a set in and of itself.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

I hardly know anything about Seinfeld, but I guess no Soup Nazis for you?

Gravatar
By in Romania,

As someone who never really got into any sitcoms, all of those sitcom sets all kind of look the same to me. In my humble opinion, it is a big shame this was approved over other much more interesting LEGO Ideas submissions.

Gravatar
By in United States,

For once, I have no reason to complain. The price is incredibly good for the amount of pieces and minifigs included, and the build is well done.

Gravatar
By in Belgium,

Can't wait to reenact «The Contest» in LEGO form ;-)

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

Serenity now!!!

Gravatar
By in Canada,

I'm very excited about this set! I can't wait for it to come out.

I spent many hours watching Seinfeld and my friends the same age as me still quote it on a fairly regular basis.

From what I can see it looks like they did an incredible job re-creating the main set, Jerry's apartment and I absolutely love that they included a Festivus Pole!

The price seems fair as well, although it would have been nice if they could have kept it under $100 CDN.

I'll be buying this as soon as I can!

You can google it and check that the couch change color throughout the series.

The reason Jerry face is so ugly.... because he is an ugly guy.

Gravatar
By in Canada,

Set represents well the apartment, but it's equally boring. The figures are not as good as the Friends ones. For me it's a pass, but I'm happy for the fans of the show, I was surprised this one won.

Maybe we'll get Frasier or Cheers next ? :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Although I used to watch the occasional episode late at night and it looking a very impressive set, it's not one that I'll be buying.

However, this and the two Friends sets, just make me wish they'd made the same effort with the Big Bang Theory set, which looks very poor by comparison.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Not too much of a Seinfeld fan, but this is a nice interior space. It matches photos of the set except the computer room is smaller & then they added a little extra wall angle to hang the picture on since the bookcase wall isn't set back enough to hold the picture.
I am surprised to see white walls though, as TV shows usually have colored walls. I would have thought light blue for the walls but the white is fine. I wasn't initially interested in this set, but I really like the angled walls and all the little detail items.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I can't wait to never buy this.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Great value and pieces. I modified Central Perk into a modular building, and I'll likely use the parts from this to build Jerry's apartment into one of my custom buildings. The level of detail and all the little easter eggs in here just makes me wish we were getting that Community set

Gravatar
By in Italy,

In Italy i've never heard of Seinfeld, but i think i take this set and transform in a generic AFOL apartment.
The minifigures also mean nothing to me, i think i will put them in the assembly square.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Never seen an episode, that being said I’ll probably get it when it’s reduced in price. Would love a Frasier set next

Gravatar
By in Greece,

Recognise that this has to represent the source material, but the plain walls just seem to drain it of life, I’d hesitate to say boring, but it just seems to be missing the fun and energy that the Friends sets have -

Gravatar
By in Brazil,

Never watched Seinfeld, just like Friends. But this set does interest me, unlike the Friends sets.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Massive Seinfeld fan, this looks great! Can't wait to get it.

Gravatar
By in United States,

Really good price, a fairly good interpretation of Brent’s sub but could have been a wee bit better. Still, I’m only a Fringe Seinfeld fan and I’m def getting this.

If only there was a fanbase big enough to get his X-Files set through the system, then I could die happy.

Gravatar

It's the price a was hoping for, as I am an avid fan (so probably day one purchase for me), but also believe licensing 90s/00s shows and games is some kind of cash-grab directed at AFOLs

Gravatar
By in United States,

It's sooooo simple, but having spent many a fun evening in the early 2000s at the Comedy Cellar on MacDougal, where Seinfeld was a regular, the brick wall is my absolutely favorite build! It will soon have a home in my office.

Gravatar
By in United States,

What's the deal with all the LEGO Sitcom sets?

No but seriously, I really love the look an feel of these models and have been meaning to collect them, but I think LEGO needs to go ahead and reboot the Studios theme to make more of these so LEGO Ideas can get some more variety.

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

I think the set looks great and it's a good price for it too! I'm a fan of Seinfeld though, so it appeals to me. If you aren't fan then I can see why it wouldn't.

You don't have to love every set they make though, they're not making them for everyone! I mean they make hundreds of sets a year, you can pick and choose the ones you like :)

Gravatar
By in United Kingdom,

Proof that it’s not just Star Wars that can produce big monochrome boxes as sets XD

Gravatar
By in United States,

@Turbulence:
When was its approval announced? Add one year to that. That's roughly how far out they are in Ideas set development.

@J0rgen:
@Ladondorf:
I have watched the entire series (I think), but don't think I've rewatched any episodes since it went off the air, so I'm not sure how these match up. Poking around, I have found evidence of at least four couches. There's one from the original pilot (The Seinfeld Chronicles), which for sure is blue, but apparently it only appears in the one episode. Then there's whatever couch replaced that for the regular series. This gets sent to Elaine's apartment when Jerry buys a new couch (which is blue and has puffy armrests). This third couch doesn't last a single episode in the apartment, because that's the one that Poppie pees on, which then gets sent to George's apartment until his father finds out he's been sleeping on a pee-stained couch, and then ends up in the entrance to a high-rise building (where Poppie pees on the same cushion a second time). Jerry asks for the second couch back from Elaine, but grape juice is spilled on it, and I don't know if he got a fifth couch after that.

From still photos, I've been able to find the original one-time blue couch, the blue Poppie couch, a green couch that has vertical flat armrests, and a blue couch with black vertical flat armrests. So, at least four couches, and one of them was green. The armrests on this couch appear to match that one, so sand-green seems to be accurate. From a clip of "The Deal", the blue/black couch is in S2, and from a clip of "The Outing", the green couch is in S4. "The Couch" is an early episode in S6, but it looks like the juice-stained green couch is still there in "The Fusilli Jerry" later in S6.

@Lego_Prime:
@DavidBrick:
I ran across a non-LEGO replica of the Seinfeld apartment studio set, which appears to be an exact match for the layout in this set, with the computer in a separate alcove. I've also recently read an article showing how the apartment is physically impossible, since the hallway outside his door would have to cut through the corner of the kitchen to work, and that had the left side of the apartment at a right angle in the diagram, with no distinct alcove. So I poked around to find long shots of the actual filming set, and it appears the alcove is real. I think it's just that the shallow angle in relation to the wall immediately to the right, combined with the way they filmed the series (they kept the cameras away from the lintel so they wouldn't risk catching the overhead stage lighting in frame), that makes it look like the computer alcove is part of the main living room. They also don't often show the tiny bit of wall to the left of the alcove, which further reinforces the perception that there's no alcove.

This is the tricky thing with sitcom sets. A real apartment is generally going to be way too small to film in, particularly with a studio audience looking on and a multi-camera setup. They tend to swing the left and right walls wide, resulting in the "fourth wall" being 2-3x as long as it would be in real life. The resulting extra space gets filled with a lot more furniture than could realistically fit inside a real apartment.

@J0rgen:
If you're referring to the dark-blue trophy fig as Fusilli Jerry, that might instead by Jerry's statue of Superman. And in the minifig lineup, Kramer is holding a pretzel, which is likely a reference to, "These pretzels are making me thirsty," from S3.11 The Alternate Side.

@elangab:
Cheers was set in a bar. No way is that going to be approved as a set. That was specifically cited as a reason why they rejected the Winchester from Shaun of the Dead.

@Gabriel_Voyager:
From L-R there's an alcove that Jerry uses as an office, then a short hallway that leads left past the bathroom to Jerry's bedroom, then the main door into the exterior hallway, and finally the kitchenette.

Gravatar
By in Netherlands,

I like it. I think it will look nice next to the original F.R.I.E.N.D.S. and Big Bang Theory Ideas set.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

@PurpleDave Fusilli Jerry is a sticker, the microfig is probably Superman. As for the couch, I think they probably based the set a lot on that studio model, where the couch looks greenish.

There have been four sitcom sets. Ever.

Currently, LEGO produces the following action/fantasy themes:
Ninjago
Star Wars
Vidiyo
Monkie Kid
Marvel Super Heroes
DC Super Heroes
Minions
Super Mario
Harry Potter
Jurassic World

That’s four sets vs ten entire themes, every single one of which exceeds sitcom-based models in number of sets.

Not sure if this has been said already but seems an odd choice as so many people seem Uninterested in it going by the results of the poll….

Gravatar
By in Austria,

*shrug* I've never seen a single episode. It always ran far too late on German TV. Don't know if it has a strong fan base in other European countries.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@J0rgen:
Geez... Yeah, you have to get a really high-angle shot to see over the back of the sofa to where Fusilli Jerry is sitting on the lowest shelf under the stereo. It's visible, but blurry, in the shot where Elaine is standing (vs walking) in the doorway to the apartment. The tile is visible, but the sticker is blocked by Kramer's head in the shot where George is sitting on the floor between the sofa and chair. It's visible and in sharp focus in the wide shot where Newman is drinking pop on the sofa, which is also used on the back of the box. The real prop has a dark-blue base, which is why I was thinking you might have been looking at the trophy fig.

But the couch really was light green. Whether it appears green or blue seems to depend on the lighting, as the real color falls somewhere between sand-blue and sand-green, with a less saturated color. Here's a BTS shot where it definitely looks closer to sand-green:

https://images.thestar.com/content/dam/thestar/entertainment/television/2014/07/03/why_seinfeld_still_matters_25_years_later/seinfeld.jpg

However, note that the chair to the left does not match the couch, where it does in other episodes. As I said, I was able to find proof of four completely different couches, but I was left wondering if there was at least one more post-Poppie. From the description on their site, the replica was designed with access to the original set and props, and was carefully matched to the look, or it wouldn't have gotten approval.

We've seen similar controversial color-matching issues with Han's parka from Ep5. That item looks dark blue to almost black in the film, but the claim is that the actual costume is a weird purpley-brown. They made one minifig with a dark-brown parka, and the Hasbro equivalent was to make the parka closer to sand-purple. One of the other things that's not really factored in is how much cloth can fade over the years. Han's parka was filmed under bright winter lighting and got tons of sun exposure at the time. Jerry's primary couch may have been used for several seasons, and been faded by the intense studio lighting (for a sitcom set, they probably lined the set with 1000w fixtures).

I would imagine that the target audience isn't "AFOLs who read LEGO fansites" for this product. I mean, of course some Brickset readers will be Seinfeld fans but I think this is aimed at what you might call a more casual LEGO fan audience. And why not? Not every LEGO product has to be enjoyed by everyone.

Gravatar
By in Germany,

Even though I am not really a Seinfeld fan, the set looks quite nice.
Plus, I am amazed at how reasonably priced it is.

Compare it for example with the new City Stuntz line of sets, which are outrageously expensive even though they are not licenced and don't contain anything remotely worth the money.

Gravatar
By in United States,

LOL...I am cracking up at all the Seifeld references in the set.
They packed alot of easter egg stuff...
-The pretzel for Kramer's 'these pretzel's are making me thirsty' woody allen movie extra.
- The Commando 8 air conditioner
- On the computer screen a Vandaly Industries ad? 1 in latex? LOL!
- Kramer's shirt from the thrift store.
- The green bycycle
- Superman statue
- 'yada' 'yada' stickers
- The brown muffin-top
- Schmoppie's phone number on fridge
- George's 'model' photo
- Monk's cafe sticker
- I think that sticker on fridge of grey hair bald guy is Larry David?
- Picture of a Porsche on wall? Jerry's a big real life collector
- Kramer's coffee table book that turns into a coffee table
- George's marble rye bread and fishing pole
- Elaine's goldfish from the parking garage episode
- Prognosis Negative movie
- Fusilli Jerry

Don't remember the red sports car sticker reference? Anyone?
Anymore I missed?

OH, and the nice touch to have Jerry's standup comedy stage.

@legoDad42:
The framed picture of the grey car is based on the real set. There's a bit of wall to the left of the alcove, and another bit of wall to the right of the kitchenette. They kept the cameras off those walls, so you only really see them in BTS photos and video clips that pull back far enough to include the cameras and stage lights. There were elements incorporated into the sets to give the camera operators warning that they were getting too close to the edge of the set, which included these extra bits of wall. In terms of the actual in-universe apartment, the two bits of wall that framed the sides of the set would have been opposite ends of a single wall behind the TV, but only the studio audiences ever really got to see them.

The red car is just a magnet from the fridge. There's a photo of the set that shows a red sports car magnet and Superman magnet on the doors, and oven mitts that look like a cat and a cow on the left side of the fridge. The bit on the right that has a black line over a red line appears to be a magnet for the Skip Barber Racing School. These three items are probably more just set dressing than references to actual bits in the show.

So what's the story with Lego releases these days?

I feel like the angles are a bit off, it could have had a couple more details but do I feel tempted to recreate some scenes. I might be going to get this at one point. Also, it would be amazing to get a Minifig pack for this with some side characters. And Larry David. That would be pretty, pretty good.

Gravatar
By in Switzerland,

@PurpleDave It's definitely a Han's parka type of situation. Both the couches and the parka are clearly shades of blue in the respective source materials, so going by the props/behind the scenes photos isn't ideal. I need a blue couch for my set, so I hope I have the parts for it.

The angles are nearly dead on. The set was built with weird angles to give depth from multiple camera angles. Had the office alcove been 90 degrees to the living room it wouldn't have been so prominent to the TV viewer. This also made the set / apartment feel bigger than it was.

Here is a photo of the set:

Since I never watched Seinfeld, I wasn't expecting to be interested in this set. Instead, I find it more appealing than the FRIENDS apartments, and much more reasonably priced. Nice to see some complex sets priced under $100, and very nice to see more buildings/interiors than I feel have been available in the recent past!

I rewatch it (ALL of it) every few years.

Gravatar
By in United States,

@CDM:
More importantly, it was filmed in front of a studio audience, who had to be able to see the full apartment set from one seating position. If the room was rectangular, shooting through arches and doorways would render half of the action unviewable by the audience.

@J0rgen:
I'm convinced that it's green. You're convinced that it's blue. Part of that may just be the color adjustment of the screens we're viewing it on. The set replica is an officially licensed product, so someone with access to material that's not on the internet (props, photos, or design documents) had to approve this to go into production, and I don't think they would have done so if the real couch was blue.

Regardless, you're out of luck for changing the color. To do so, and remain accurate to the physical construction, you'd need 11477 and 15068 to form the set back, 49307 for the edge of the seat cushions, and 37352 for the throw pillows. There's only two shades of blue that all four of those curved slopes are available in, which are Dark-Turquoise and Medium-Azure. Then it looks like you'd need 11211 to provide the studs on the seats and hold the throw pillows in place, and that exists in neither of those shades. If you're willing to tweak the construction, you might be able to figure out an alternate solution. You've also got the option of trying to build one of the other three couches. The blue/black one would probably be easiest, but it looks like the same basic construction as this one, so some of the same color issues will remain.

The Office has been repeatedly shot down, and someone else mentioned Community being rejected at least once. Schitt's Creek probably isn't even available to anyone who doesn't live near the Canadian border, which really kills its potential viewership. P&R seemed like a critical darling, but (like Community) one that never really conquered the ratings. Modern Family is the only one I can see having real potential, but the cast is just too big. There's six adults and seven kids just in the main cast! And even then, it simply didn't have the ratings that Seinfeld had. Ten times as many viewers tuned in for the Seinfeld finale than did for the Modern Family finale. M*A*S*H was a rare show that had an even bigger audience than Seinfeld, but is patently off-limits due to the fact that it's built entirely around a military unit.

If you want to talk series that have a legit chance of clearing 10k and getting approved, the one remaining show I see that hits on all marks is I Love Lucy. I'm just not sure it still has enough of a fanbase to pull it off today.

The best chance at another TV Show set would be a Little House on the Prairie set, with the Ingalls house, the horses and buckboard, chicken coop, etc.
Nice detail farm house, with Charles, Caroline, Laura, Mary, Cari, Albert, the dog, plus there's tons of easter egg builds to give the fans something unique from the 1800's.
Another a very cool 3 part set up for Wanda Vision. Either broken up into thirds or quarters., circular build..the black/white 50's style interior and figs, a full color 80's or 90s home style and Halloween figs, then the modern Wanda and Vision with both the regular Vision and White new Vision fig.
Another would be good an could sell is iCarley. Tons of colorful builds in Spencer's apartment, with the upper level for Carley's web show. Spencer's weird sculpture's and tons of easter eggs for this show would make it a great set.

By in United States,

Happy Festivus for the rest of us! These pictures are making me thirsty.

Probably one of the coolest experiences I ever had was getting to actually visit the Seinfeld set after hours and I can confirm from my pictures taken at that time that this set is incredibly well designed.

First of all, as this appears to be the biggest debate, I do have a picture of myself sitting on a green couch (and no, I was not sitting on a pee stain).

The computer is indeed in an alcove and this set does a wonderful job portraying it.

Also another realistic thing about this set is the lack of a bathroom. If you opened the bathroom door on the set, you would have discovered that the toilet was just painted onto the wall!

The other great thing about this set is the hallway outside Jerry’s apartment. At least when I was there it only had Kramer’s door, his apartment is not part of the set, and very little of the hallway actually existed.

Of course, I now have to dig up my blueprints of the set (which along with a script of The Fatigues was probably the coolest birthday present I ever got) to see just exactly how accurate this set really is.

All I can say is that Lego has really stepped up their game over the last few years. I got the NES and now Seinfeld, and of course there’s always Star Wars, combine that with the Classic Space throwbacks The Lego Movies gave us, the upcoming Creator Castle, plus the Bricklink castle, it’s like I’m completely reliving my entire childhood through Lego! The only thing missing is a Chicago Bulls Virtual Eightpeet set.

You have the key players and Lainey even has the goldfish.

And with Lego you can challenge yourself to recreate the set.

@alfred_the_buttler:
One thing home viewers might not realize is that, due to the need to play to a studio audience, the hallway would be a separate set, and Kramer’s apartment would be a third set. You would never just line the three up where you could walk through them. For TBBT, they either had a separate set for each floor as they walked up the stairs, or they had to quickly redress the same set for each floor.

Agreed! When I introduced my girlfriend to the show we started by watching selected favourites of mine from later in the series before starting from the beginning. The pilot episode of "Seinfeld" is an especially bad jumping in point, so I'd rather start somewhere in season 3 or 4, with an episode like "The Parking Garage", "The Subway", "The Bubble Boy", "The Contest", "The Visa" or "The Outing". The first two seasons are really great as well, so you should absolutely watch them, but you get a better feel of the show from later episodes, and apart from some season-long storylines in seasons 4 and 7 all the episodes work very well as stand-alone stories.

dammit.

I really didn’t want to buy this set, and now I have to think about it. Parking garages, while appropriate for many of our displays, are visually unappealing, so I don’t think anyone has ever brought one to a show. Parking lots, on the other hand, take up very little space and can provide needed space to stage scenes in an otherwise packed cityscape. I’ve got about a dozen baseplates built for parking lots, and could easily drop the four main characters on one with the goldfish.

@Altair1970:
Wow. Where to start... I think the fact that I had seriously typed up a list that included an entry for “garden-variety incest” says it all. By the time they finish listing all the parts of the show they _wouldn’t_ want to put their logo on, I think all that’s left is Hot Pie’s bakery, and Gendry rowing towards the horizon.

I mean, there wouldn’t be much to it besides the minifigs in a parking lot. We slip a lot of pop culture references into our club layouts. Sometimes it’s just stock minifigs, like having the Beatles from the Yellow Submarine walking in a crosswalk. My earlier Seinfeld reference would be far more interesting, where I had the Dimensions Midway Arcade minifig pushing his Defender arcade cabinet across the street while S12 Video Game Guy carries the car battery.

Mega Construx kept it simple with their line:
- A small snow/ice wall set up battle scene with Jon Snow, Night King and Undead Wight figs.
- An Iron Throne build with Daenerys Targaryen, Jon Snow, the Night King and Cersei Lannister figs. Interchangeable sigils too.
- Large Drogon dragon build with one minifig.
- Large Vyserion dragon build also with only one minifig.
- Large Castle Winterfell playset with Jon Snow, Sansa Stark, Arya Stark, and 3 White Walker figures.
- Like mid sized Targaryen Ship Playset with Daenerys Targaryen, Tyrion Lannister, Grey Worm, and an unsullied soldier figures.
- 2 small mini build castles, The Red Keep and Castle Black (sold separately).
- 3 separately sold Dragon Eggs with build-able Vyserion, Rhaegal, and Drogon.
I think there's more? But not sure. Also they are doing individual figures sold separately.

Problem with Mega is now that their brick quality if much improved you can't find these sets regularly. Some are out there while most come out initially, seem to be always low stock, sell out fast and never return to shelves.

By in United States,

Ironically, as a big Seinfeld fan I'm not that excited for this set. It's a good rendition of Jerry's apartment but there aren't as many details like the Friends Apartments or Central Perk. (I see there are a couple - don't get indignant about it.) Come to think of it, Seinfeld didn't have a lot of stories or gags based on props like Friends.

I like the minifigures but you don't see them and immediately identify them as Jerry, George, Elaine, Kramer or Newman - it's more like someone put the pieces together to approximate them.

I'll stick to my t-shirt of "The Kramer" painting and a couple of prints I have of the cast.

Definitely not a separate room but the on air set does have Jerry's little office there in a nook.

That's an actual BTS shot of the stage, revealing things that were never shown on camera. Besides all the stage lights that look like they're mere inches overhead, you can clearly see the lintel that marks the line between the living room and the office nook. During filming, this would have set the boundary for where the camera operator was allowed to focus the shot. If they could see that lintel in frame, the camera was aimed too high. If they could see the wall to the left of the nook, the camera was panned too far to the left. The reason they do this is so that if, during filming, you _accidentally_ aim the camera too far in any direction, you don't ruin the shot. Having a little bit more set that you're never supposed to see means it masks the backstage stuff that shouldn't be there. The unintentional result of this, however, is that it duped at-home viewers into thinking that the office wasn't intended to be a separate room. Only the studio audience would get to see proof that the nook was not just a corner of the living room, as many of us (including myself) believed for years.

Any scene with the Night King raising of the dead
Hold the Door (Hodor)...
Tiereon's Trial in the Throne Room...
Trial by combat to save Tiereon's life
Drogon laying waste to the Lannister army

------------------------------------------------------------------

Nobody said they would have to show these scenes... they could very well have done just a few sets with the key GOT locations and minifigs, for example:

Winterfell and the Stark minifigs
King's Landing and the Lannister/Baratheon minifigs
The Wall and the Night Watch minifigs
Meereen and the ''Daenerys team'' minifigs
And of course a set with at least one of the dragons (probably Drogon)

But you are right, it is now quite unlikely that we ever see these sets... so I have been working on my own MOCs in small format ;-)

"Super disappointed in Lego's decision making when it comes to Kramer... for a company that is trying to be more inclusive & appeal to a wider audience, they certainly fall short in that when it comes to this set. Kramer, or should I say Michael Richards, is a known racist (for those who don't know, he went on a racist rant at one of his comedy shows back in 2006) so I will be passing on this set for sure. I find that Lego is poor at making decisions, and that the company in general is going downhill quite rapidly; I was super excited for this set but I refuse to put money into the pocket of racists."

Michael Richards was exposed way back and I do believe it has cost him a lot in terms of deals and contacts.

Is he still the same person now years later? Some people do change for the better.

Is this the case for Michael Richards? He seems more humble in interviews after the incident. Is he sincere? I don't know. I would like to think an incident like this can open someone's eyes. Unfortunately I've known too many people that prefer to blame everyone and everything else, because they can't admit to themselves that they made a mistake.

Yet I still believe people can change, so to say: I know this person is a racist, because of a video of long ago. Doesn't seem fair to me.

"How many more of these 'sitcom' sets? And again 18+...

Aren't there much better themes that deserve great and detailed sets? More fantasy, more action please!"

There have been four sitcom sets. Ever.

Currently, LEGO produces the following action/fantasy themes:
Ninjago
Star Wars
Vidiyo
Monkie Kid
Marvel Super Heroes
DC Super Heroes
Minions
Super Mario
Harry Potter
Jurassic World

That’s four sets vs ten entire themes, every single one of which exceeds sitcom-based models in number of sets."

There’ve actually been six previous sitcom sets (one apiece for The Big Bang Theory and The Flintstones, two apiece for The Simpsons and Friends; I’m guessing you’re forgetting the animated ones), making this Seinfeld one the seventh, but your point is absolutely valid. Even with seven such sets (across the same number of years, at that, not all at once), they’re still an eensy part of TLG’s total output.

And note also that The Big Bang Theory, Friends, The Flintstones, and Seinfeld all happened because people literally specifically requested them, and got literally thousands of people to support their proposals. Obviously there are plenty of people who do want these (not directing this at you, Mr_Thrawn, but at the person to whom you’re responding and the others here with similar responses). Not every LEGO set need appeal to every fan of classic LEGO play themes, and everything produced through Ideas happened because somebody specifically did want it. Why begrudge others their joy?

Odd, they didn't do one, considering that they've already produced Captain America and Iron Man microfigures

Including a Superman micro figure would undoubtedly require separate licensing from Warner Bros. If Seinfeld was a Warner production itself, it probably could have happened.

While the format is technically similar, I'm not sure Simpsons or Flintstones actually count as sitcoms. Certainly neither Simpsons set had anything to do with Ideas, and the second Friends set (like every Minecraft, Ghostbusters, BttF, Doctor Who, or Adventure Time set after their respective first sets) was released outside of the Ideas theme. The Friends keychains may be the first instance where a single set yielded more than one product under the Ideas theme on LEGO.com. Also, Adventure Time is another sitcom-esque TV series that got an Ideas release. Doctor Who appears to be the only regular drama series, and I'm not sure if Winnie the Pooh is based more on movies or TV shows, but other TV shows that did get Ideas releases are Sesame Street and Voltron.

A Superman trophy fig wouldn't be a problem at all. Not only did they include a clearly recognizable sticker of a Superman minifig representing one of the magnets on the fridge, but WB owns Castle Rock Entertainment. Sony got their hands on the distribution rights, but I'm pretty sure WB owns the IP, so Superman's "in the family".

By in Australia,

I love this set and thanks to the creator Brent for the amazing work. I am a big fan of Seinfeld and the series. Having so many references to episodes is so well done.
Now I just need to wait for the "Get Smart" set with maybe the Chiefs office and a Hymie minifig and include the Cone of Silence.

The bit on the right that has a black line over a red line appears to be a magnet for the Skip Barber Racing School. "

The story the instructors like to tell is that Seinfeld went through the schools and did a few races out in California. (It is true that he’s a past client. I believe he’s on the list they have on the website.)
He crashed a few cars, and to make up for it, he gave Skippy massive free publicity by putting the logo sticker on the upper right corner of his fridge. It’s in every episode from the time he decided to do so. After all, it was his show, and stickers aren’t as easily removed by prop managers/set designers as magnets are.
